Since Mark mentioned recording the entire band (rather than just one station), I'm thinking he wants to reduce the file size of the recorded band, not the audio.

Besides, who worries about audio file size unless emailing them around?


As for reducing the file size of the recorded band, you're pretty much stuck. It's by nature not very compressable.
