Re: [IRCA] WRTHs on ebay

Sounds to me like you just don't like to deal with eBay.  Points of "argument" as follows:

1. If you buy a scanner, just use the scanner.  You don't need a digital camera to do what the scanner can do.  Current price is less than $100, but you saved the $100-200 you would have spent on the camera.
2. My scanner still runs fine on my Win95 box with 32MB RAM.  You're now up to $900-1000 on savings, considering you don't have to buy the new computer.
3.  The eBay commission is somewhere around 5% tops.  5% of $25 is $1.25, but I think they have a flat minimum rate, so you could sell a bulk lot of books.
4.  You have BOOKS to sell, which USPS calls MEDIA MAIL.  Unless Old Fort is less than a one-horse town, you likely have a post office there, which allows you to ship media mail at a price far reduced from regular shipping rates and eliminates the need to go to Chattanooga.
5.  It is expected that a eBay buyer pays shipping for the items they want to buy.  You can ask a bit more to cover the cost of a trip to the post office.  If you don't ask them to pay shipping, you screwed yourself.
6. Considering what radio stuff sells for (even that which isn't rare), you'd get far more than $25.

I've bought and sold more than 1500 items on eBay over the course of time.  I love it AND I have made a bunch more money on things that I sold than expected, because there is usually someone who wants your goodie so bad they can't see straight.

Thanks to all who responded to my post on WRTH collecting. I do appreciate
the answers.

BUT, Let's see what would I have to do to sell WRTH's on ebay.

First, I would have to spend $100 to 200 dollars on a digital camera. A
camera I have no other need for or care to own.

Second, I would have buy a scanner of some kind, or some type of plug in
program so I could load the pictures into my computer. How much would that
cost... another $100? And after all that I would find out that my present
computer hasn't
enough memory to handle the digital pictures. That would cost me $800 or
more dollars for a new computer that will do the job.

Third, Then you have pay ebay a commission, which is far to high.

Forth, Then hope that someone bids enough to pay for all the above.

Fifth, ship said WRTH's to highest bidder by adding packing cost, and
gasoline cost to FedX or UPS, which is a 40 mile drive one way, into
Chattanooga.

So, let's see, how much money have I spent just to sell $25.00 dollars
worth of WRTH. 200+100+800+shipping, etc.
We are now looking at about 1,200 dollars invested in selling a 25.00 item.
How wonderful!!

Folks, ebay isn't all it's cracked up to be, I been there, done that.
