I remember that night well...

Moscow and AFN Germany on 872khz...
Wales on 881... BBC on 647

Sept and Oct 1976 - We will never forget.

I was using a DX150B (Hall-patched), a
350foot micro-mini beverage pointed due north
run through a matching device fashioned from a
3' frame loop mounted on press board coupled
to the DX150B through a ferrite loop strapped
to the back of the receiver.
Back then the VOA Okinawa on 1178khz would
hammer 1180 Kalispell Montana every morning through
sunrise at amazing levels.
