Re: [IRCA] IBOC DX'ing

Agreed. Let's just keep in mind that there are well over a hundred thousand
"regular folks" working in radio, and they are not conspirators, corporate
moguls or robber barons. In fact, "corporate radio" is nowhere near being
the ugly monolith it is oft portrayed as being; the large, public radio
companies are owned by pension and retirement funds, insurance companies and
mutual funds in the majority... in other words, by the close to 80% of
Americans that are covered by or beneficiaries of one of these!

I saw today the story of a small AM between New Orleans and Baton Rouge that
managed to stay on the air during the hurricane with a staff of just two,
reporting non-stop during the storm and in its aftermath with no free FEMA
generators, no federal funding... just the desire of a small station to
serve its community. And over 10,000 of the 13,500 US stations are such:
small stations in small markets run as a small business.

Like insurance agents, plumbers, retail clerks, bank tellers and factory
workers, radio folks are not against anyone. They are making a living in the
field that they have chosen. All I ask is that we afford the people in radio
the recognition they deserve... there is not a one out there who is trying
to kill DXing.

Guys, lets keep this under control. Keep your tempers. If this is going
to be an issue, lets drop the subject. We sure do not want another
"NRC". Remember we are all friends here.
