Re: [IRCA] Wobbler on 680?

Bill,

Sorry that this response may be too late to confirm your suspicions.

680 is indeed one of the most frequent Wobblers of late.  Nearly every day in the later evening, early morning as now, the 680 Wobbler has been medium to strong.

As I tune in now at 0430Z 8/22/05, there is what I would typically class as a "medium" Wobbler.  That means it can be easily and frequently heard, by using U/LSB and detuning a few hundred Hertz to produce a heterodyne with the carrier.  Wobblers of this intensity are not usually noticeable when simply tuned to the frequency in normal AM mode, especially with other station audio dominating.  However, it is not at all uncommon for 680 to have its moments, bursting out with a grand episode of wobbling then dropping back to a more relaxed state.  It would not be unreasonable to think that may have happened tonight.

Down here there is a muddle of different station popping up and down on 680, the underlying Cuban only barely audible, but as I say, the Wobbler is detectable.  The sky wave may be reaching you and delivering the Wobbler for your listening pleasure.

Just while I have been composing this post the 680 Wobbler has become weaker, then stronger, and just now has had increasingly stronger episodes.  I would say it's quite likely you heard a Wobbler.  To be sure, if you haven't heard the samples on my Wobbler web site, you might take a listen and see if it was what you heard.

I think I am hearing a wobbler on 680 under my local WCBM?  Is there
one there?
