Re: [IRCA] Questions? <1550 KYOU / KYCY>

There is another Bay Area radio newsgroup that I frequent.  People there do nothing but whine about KYCY and KZBR-FM (Max FM), because they do not have a regimented playlist.  As a radio listener since the 60s, I have gotten so bored with regimented playlists that I sometimes just turn off the radio instead.  There is one FM station near me that is very popular, but listening to them, it seems like their playlist is limited to whatever they could check out from the library at any given time.  I am very close to sending emails to several stations in my listening range who (in my opinion) excel at providing stimulating format and independence.  It won't matter a hill of beans, but it may help to reinforce their idea that they make a difference.

I too give credit to KYCY, if you haven't figured that out yet!

The format is different and I give 'em credit for that. I think the calls
are still up for grabs and are somewhat catchier than KYCY. Still, I've
been trying to figure why stations ID so much when they're not using their
own call letters. It's a mystery to me. For you listeners farther away, I
would guess that this station would be somewhat easier to catch now with
their different-definitely not "status quo" choice of music. When I was
listening, I heard several songs and then a DJ gave an easy going, fairly
lengthy description of the song and artist. Sorta like old FM.
