Tom,
I've been bouncing around on the usual Wobbler hangout frequencies all evening, keeping track of my wayward children.. A couple have had their moments. You're right about 680, popping up with Xtreme vigor at times, it has been tonight's star performer.
I thought about posting a notice about 680, but it always seemed to die out before I got around to it. For me hearing a wild one down here, it's less significant than when it reaches out and touches mid-America. I can never be sure if the underlying signal is strong enough get out.
Thanks for the report. Now that I know the 680 can get beyond south Florida, I'll be more attentive to alerting folks when it's doing it's thing.
For the record: 680 is back at it right now -- 0400edt 7/6/5 -- with Strong to Xtreme wobbles.
Also, at 1958edt 7/5/5, 870 spawned a massive Wobbler which then over several seconds calmed to a more typical one. This is the second time I've heard this sort of thing, the previous one, mid afternoon four days ago on 750. I am inclined to think these are caused by some sort of switchover that agitates the transmitter.
Again, thanks for the report,

At 01:18 CDT, Wed. 7/6, noted wobbler on 680 for just a few seconds after
brief fade out of WPTF and WDRD. 1st time noted on 680 up here. See Curts
comments below from a few days ago.

A strong Wobbler on 680, reported earlier today and after settling down some
has grown to Extreme proportions. Audible through the program content of
music and dramatic readings(?). Especially vigorous using SSB and detuning
to get a het. The signal on 680 is very strong too, S9+10 and more.
