That makes Fresno larger than both St. Louis and Kansas City. Kansas City
is up to about 430,000 now...St. Louis is still languishing below 350,000. The
phenomenal growth has been in the suburbs; St. Charles is now around 70,000, St.
Peters has seen explosive growth (from just 486 residents in 1970 to nearly
50,000 today) and O'Fallon, MO has 66,000 people living there now. The city next
to where I live, Florissant, still maintains a population of 50,000, after
peaking at 72,000 in the early 1970s.
