[IRCA] More on the vertical

The latest on the vertical is that I am getting more impressed with it.
I have now added the MFJ 1026 in the loop and using the EWE for phasing.
I set the R8 on 660 during the day and phase out Junction City OR and
have Mt. Vernon WA alone on the frequency. That gives me a pretty good
null to the South and a stronger lobe to the N/NE across the whole band.
Using the same settings after dark, I find it still gives me the same
pattern. At least it has tonight. I noticed a mix of CISL and CKOM on
650. I am still getting CJWW-1310 and CHAT on 1270. CX aren't even all
that good either. Stations like CBU-690-Vancouver BC, KJR-950-Seattle
are local-like powerhouses. Unbelieveable signals! The splatter from
some of these stations are pretty bad. The down side of a strong lobe.
You get the good with the bad. CFAX-1070-Victoria with their 40-60 watts
in my direction (according to their CE), is on top of KNX. That never
used to happen. CFAX was always buried u/KNX at night here. So the
testing continues. By the way, I can get almost 100% phase on KFI
leaving splatter from CISL-650, so Bethel AK should be heard this next
Winter. I used to hear them on occasion with the NNW beverage. I still
wonder how this set up will work for TAs. Should be interesting.
