Near salt water, is the best place to locate an AM site and tower. 1300 and 950 had long been able to serve the metro area from the Harbor Island sites. About the only place near the water seems to be a port area. KFI is still looking high and low for the best location. The cost of land has almost pushed AM broadcast sticks in to the sea. There is NOT enough room on Vashon Island for all of the AM stations. The old 1360 KMO had a great site in the Fife tidelands. It provided much better coverage than the taller 5/8th wave on top of the hill. Everyone knows how well the 1240 in Olympia covers -- but its located at the end of a pier near the water. Just like the beer company said "It's the water". When is someone going to figure out that the KVI - 570 tower on Murray Island - Vashon is almost exactly 5/8ths wave for 1360 ??? It would give 1360 a lot better
coverage.
