[IRCA] Re: Variable Capacitor

Here are two more sources of air variable caps that I've bought from in the
past:

http://www.midnightscience.com/catalog5.html single and dual-section 365pF
variable caps, magnet wire, other goodies

http://www.danssmallpartsandkits.net/ lots of various parts, and some
variable caps; his dual-section 365pF cap is $20.00.

Use of a dual-section cap will easily let you wind a loop that will tune
from 530-1700kHz. More careful loop turns selection will be needed if you
use just a one-section cap. You'll probably need a switch to select one or
both sections in parallel, for the dual-section version.
The main problem will be winding the right number of turns to resonate over
the proper range with your chosen capacitor. Hopefully you're going to use a
published loop design that has loop dimensions and number of turns, and
capacitance value to use.

Subject: [IRCA] Variable Capacitor

I am going to attempt to build a MW Loop soon to use with my Drake R8B (and
perhaps the Sangean ATS 909), but I need a Variable Capacitor. Which one
should I get and where is the best place to get one from?
