[IRCA] Re: Los Angeles AM radio changes

Don,

KYNO is still there, though very weak.  There are a number of SS stations in the San Joaquin Valley, and I think KYNO's days of basking in the limelight went away a long time ago.  I can still get KAZN at night, but I have to "try" to null out KAPL to do it.  Its a shame that FCC monitoring stations aren't doing any monitoring.  That would take care of KAPL and KRXR, though I must say that KXOL/1660 isn't the nuisance they used to be.  Wonder what happened there?

I was sitting in front of a store last night, and was surprised to hear WOAI blasting like a local.  I poked around and also found a strong KGYN/1210, a decent WBAP/820, and a decent first-time reception of WTAW/1620...even with Sacramento on the air at the time.  I was shocked!

Michael,

KAPL's signal is very strong almost every night. Highly suspect they
are using their 20 kw daytime power at night. Actually it makes it a
bit easier here as it reduces the slop from 1310 KMKY. I can actually
hear KAZN from time to time in KAPL's null. I wonder what has happened
to KYNO Fresno? I used to hear them nightly in the old days before KAPL
etal but I haven't heard a peep from them in years. I've heard they are
spanish language nowdays. Actually when I dxed from Sacto in the 60s
KYNO was a daytimer. 73 don
