[IRCA] New Catch

A brand new catch..never heard before under any call (on this frequency)

 930  WA  KYAK  Yakima...12/15/04 2250-2306 PST...Noted preacher
dominating a very fluctuating frequency.  Just before 2300 this programs
announcer gave a list of the stations carrying the American Christian
Network.  Most (if not all) were in the state of Washington and the last
was KYAK 930 Yakima, which was given by the local announcer while KYAK
was nicely atop.  Into Information Radio News for a couple minutes then
more christian christmas promos, one being for The Family Radio Club.
The Christmas music noted after 2306 was most likely them, KSEI being
back atop, but could have been CJCA who was mixing with KSEI & KHJ as
well as KYAK.

I have been looking for this station for ages.  Checking the frequency
almost nightly in hopes of one day catching these guys running the full
10 kw at night.  I'm assuming they forgot to cut down at sunset
considering the strength of their signal tonight compared to
nil-zilch-nada in the past.  The preaching caught my attention as CJCA
is almost always contemporary christian music and KKNXs 37 watts seldom
make it here at night. Also, conditions to the north were/are somewhat
suppressed tonight. It seemed worthwhile to listen for 10 minutes thru
the QRM & buzz to see if I could ID it (and it was).....

I believe I heard the call KYAK-Yakima on 1400 from Iowa in the early
fifties.
