While you were dilly-dallying around on 1420 (or was it 1470?), I was on 1430 listening to KGAY. This was at 1345 12/8/62. I had also logged KAGO-1150 at 1330.

Two years ago about this time we had an ongoing aurora whereby KMNY-1600 and KERN-1410 were in night after night, along with all sorts of other lower CA stuff - but no Mexicans in particular.  The aurora experienced by East coasters recently seems to have been a little deeper since so much emphasis was place on Cuban reception. It is a fascinating phenomenon.

PS - I drove on 509 into downtown Tacoma this morning; it is // to I-5 and less than a quarter mile north of it. KHHO was indeed spewing ESPN on 1700 for about a mile so Patrick, that's what you had. The signal started at the N/S passover Port of Tacoma Road (509 and I-5 are E/W in this area) and lasted until I went over the bridge over the Foss Waterway into the city. It's pretty clean. I do not get it on 1700 at home. I think their DA favors the West.
