Re: [IRCA] Fasten Your Seat Belts

It was newsworthy enough to be mentioned on the KSFO news report this morning, which was surprising.... mentioning the competition????

Naturally I immediately tuned to KABL, and found them doing an informercial (a little after 7 am). At 8, KABL picked up the gardening program with Bruce and Sharon Asakawa out of San Diego. Where's the music? hi.

It makes sense that Clear Channel/KABL would also go talk, and Air America is different. KSQR is actually noticed in Sacramento now, which is a Democrat town.

Another NOS bit the dust, hey Art did you notice? KEWE 1340 in Oroville is now ESPN. Just caught that the other day and heard the top of hour ID with calls, so they are still KEWE. I forgot the slogan they're using now, but they did say "The North Valley's Sports (something)".

OK Gents (especially you AM Stereo lovers) here is the start of todays
bad news...

>From the Business Section (C1) of the San Francisco Chronicle dated
9/25/04 I found this article which informs that KABL-960 will cease to
exist as of next Tuesday 9/28/04 and become KQKE 'The Quake' carrying
Air America etc etc. KABL will be moved over to the FM dial to 92.1 and
be based in Walnut Creek (a suburb 25-30 miles east of S.F.). The
article goes extolling Clear Channel Communications and how smart they
are in making this move.

Again, it is time for Arte Johnson's Laugh In
Character............'verrrry interesting..but
STUPID'......................

KABL has been an icon here for years and years. Withstanding all sorts
of crap, now this..............sheeeeshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............
