THE VISION Group on Saturday received the equipment for its radio 
station, due to be launched by the end of the year.

?We have received the equipment for the mast,? said the company?s 
procurement manager, Sam Aderubo.

?We are soon erecting a 60-metre mast on one of the high points in 
Kampala. Our installation engineers are on site.?

The equipment was supplied by world famous Broadcast Supply 
Worldwide, an electronic media company based in the US.

?It is part of our grand plan for the electronic media,? commented 
corporation secretary Gervase Nyanabo when receiving the equipment.

?We want to have a full integration of all media, telling a story using 
many platforms and fora. These are exciting times for us,? Ndyanabo 
said.

In July, the company?s chief executive officer, Robert Kabushenga, 
announced that the Vision Group was set to spread its tentacles into 
the broadcasting industry. ?We are ready to set up a television and 
radio station,? he said.

Vision Group plans to launch the two media outlets by the end of this 
year. The radio will focus on both information and entertainment.

According to Kabushenga, investment into the broadcasting media was 
motivated by the desire to fulfill advertising demands of the group?s 
customers ?who prefer to have a one-stop for their media solution.?

Ready-to-air television equipment has already been installed on top of 
Kololo Hill.

?That means that before this year, we shall be on air,? Kabushenga 
noted.

The Vision Group, which has five papers, three magazines and a 
website on its name, saw its shares break another record last week 
following the release of its audited results.

The share price went up to sh570 on Monday and again to sh585 on 
Thursday, its highest level ever, up from sh470 the previous week.
