KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- Traxxfm, RTM's English radio 
station, goes global by linking up with Radio Australia's "Breakfast Club" 
to bring to listeners the latest hapenings in the region.

"It is hitting the airwaves with a trans Pacific brodcast in its bid to give 
the best to listeners," Deputy Information Minister Datuk Seri Chia 
Kwang Chye told reporters after witnessing the signing of the Letter of 
Intent (LoI) between RTM and Radio Australia here Friday.

He said that apart from strenghtening the collaboration between the 
broadcasters, the LIO could also build greater understanding between 
Muslims in both countries.

Radio Australia would train RTM producers to produce programmes in 
Bahasa Malaysia about the life of Australia's Muslim community to 
benefit the Malay-speaking listeners, he added.

RTM was represented by Director-General of Broadcasting Datuk 
Abdul Rahman Hamid while Radio Australia was represented by its 
head, Jean Gabriel Manguy. Australian Acting High Commissioner to 
Malaysia Peter Doyle was also present.

Chia said Traxxfm mooted the linkup with Radio Australia in 2004 and 
after identifying content suitable for listeners, a successful trial linkup 
was carried out on Sept 9 2005

He said this was followed by a further trial run before both parties 
decided to sign the letter.
