ANZAC Day 2007 Radio Salute
__________________________

The Radio Heritage Foundation [ www.radioheritage.net ] has released
it's
ANZAC Day Radio Salute for 2007.

[note: ANZAC Day is the shared Australia & New Zealand war memorial
day held on April 25]

This year, it's a photo gallery of the various Australian Army
Amenities
Service radio stations that served listeners throughout the South West
Pacific in 1945, as well as the NZ National Broadcasting Service
Mobile
Recording Units based in the Middle East and the Pacific.

Popular radio announcers from the ABC, NZBS and Australian commercial
radio
stations served at these units, entertaining troops with music, news
and
sports and taking their voices back home. Stations such as 9AC
Torokina
[Bougainville] were heard by many.

Returned servicemen who were involved with these entertainment units,
who
have memories of listening to them, or who served with radio
communications
units are invited to contact the Radio Heritage Foundation.

Also at www.radioheritage.net you'll find a full list of these AAAS
stations
in the article 'Diggers On Air', as well as lots of information about
the US
Armed Forces Radio stations from the Jungle Network, China-Burma-India
theater, Japan and Alaska.

Many of these were also familiar listening to ANZAC forces in the SW
Pacific and elsewhere [such as Japan], as well as the Mosquito
Network stations such as WVUS New Caledonia and 1ZM Auckland....and
you'll easily find items on many of these stations at the website.

The Radio Heritage Foundation is a registered charity protecting old
radio
memorabilia and sharing stories about Pacific radio. In coming
months, watch
out for Ulric Williams story of setting up the NZ Radio Station AKAA
in Japan, as well as items about the more recent Armed Forces Korea
Network, and the popular Armed Forces Vietnam Network.

Please let your readers know about the ANZAC Day 2007 Radio Salute and
invite them to visit www.radioheritage.net to find out more.

We're grateful to the editorial team at 'Stand To' - National
Newspaper of the Australian RSL [Returned Services League] for their
coverage of our activities in their February-March 2007 issue.
