Hauser

** CHILE. 28485 USB, March 3 at 2135, CA3PHX making quick contacts in
English or Spanish, with North, Central American stations. Had a hard
time understanding the last two fonetix of his call, finally decided
they were ``hotel, x-ray``. QRZ.com with lots of photos of him and his
equipment: ``CA3PHX Chile flag Chile, Mauricio "Mauro" Pacheco, La
Florida, santiago chile. +56984082037 Chile`` I already logged him Dec
25, 2024 on 28505 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. Re 11529.9, ex-Hikari FM missing lately, Ron Howard
replies: ``Hi Glenn - Here is the quick reply from Ivan, who operates
the station. Ron (Monterey, Calif.)

"Sorry about the blackout, the shortwave transmitter is not doing
great and I took it down for investigation. There are harmonics that
might interfere a little with other stations if my signal is strong.
They are not bad but at this point I have figured out how to design it
differently and avoid class D modulators. I am also trying to get into
California right now on 1710 khz and it is difficult to run two
transmitters at a time. There is some success though so I think keep a
lookout on 1710, hopefully I will be able to get a signal into your
area. Right now it is there but it is weak and XEPE [Tecate, Baja
California, Mexico] is a problem. I plan on rebuilding the
shortwave transmitter entirely or at least looking at the schematic
and seeing if there are any shortcomings that need to be fixed. I am
switching over to class G modulators, they require no filters and have
better audio. They are slightly less efficient and require multiple
power supplies or DC converters. Hopefully I can get everything
working properly soon. Very Best Regards, Ivan" (via Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Mar 3 at 2300, token English from SNR VG direct,
good on 17715, fair on 17755, still missing from 12030; previews topic
to be roots of Spanish astronomy - or rather gastronomy upon
quickcheck at 2322, interviewee with a very heavy accent (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, March 3 at 2259 direct, no signal but JBA on 9610,
but by 2301, JBA carrier on 5960 from VOT to NAm. Into UTwente at
2325, 5960.003 is S9+40/50 with 6CI; during cute talk about famous
cats inhabiting the White House, 10 Downing St., Hermitage in St.
Pete, Hemingway house in Key West, Hugo Chávez in Cáracàs [sic],
Kosovo. I guess it`s the item Alan Roe refers to simply as `The
Feature`. 2330 music. 2341 multi-lingual ID filler reel, music. 2355
s/off and IS off before 2356* uncovering Chinese music (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28470 USB, March 3 at 2145, quick contacts among domestic
hams, refers to hfqso.com which shows contacts on many different bands
and frequencies but this is the starter on 10m (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 9275, March 3 at 2302, WMLK is S9+30, surprisingly playing
``God Save The Queen`` -- I mean, ``King``. Couldn`t make out the
lyrix, ``from every mountainside``? I heard them in morning on 15150
but not lately in afternoon on 17525 - is that one active? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 93.5, March 3 at 2050 UT on caradio, `Thunder Country`, as
tropo is enhancing a fringer, KKDT, Burdett KS, close, in WTFDA FMDB
as ``93.5 Thunder`` not to be confused with one other, KTND Aspen CO,
``Thunder 93.5`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0316 UT March 4
