** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, the Enid FM station I`ve been hearing is *not*
KOKJ-LP. I finally emailed an address on the FCC CP info, and got a
reply UT Dec 17 from TC Chattam, who says ``The antenna is in Tacoma,
WA, a BSW because I have ordered it yet. And the tower is still
on the ground because I’m waiting for a height ruling from the FCC
before I build it. When I go on air for testing you’ll know it’s my
station because my ID’s are very distinct.`` So it must be a pirate, which coincidentally chose `his` frequency.
Thomas Chattam, Jr., and I were also in contact in November *2013* as
he was involved in a previous LP project for 100.9, which never
happened; instead, KGWA 960 got that frequency for its FM translator.
TC adds: ``I retired at KG in 07 and went to KWTV 9 as chief engineer for the
Radio Oklahoma network. Retired from there now and thinking about a
station for a hobby to teach kids about radio. I have a Jazz library
and all the music from the Rocket when it was on the air. Just have to
see later. If this turns into a job I don’t want to do it.`` Meanwhile, the 95.1 pirate is still on with nothing but music whenever
tuned, only in downtown Enid achieving full quieting over KQCV/KICT,
such as various chex between 2100 & 2300 UT Dec 17. Remember at first
on Dec 11, I did hear one announcement about ``Downtown Enid

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re 1650, KSVE El Paso TX, on air or not? ``1650 KSVE
(tentative) TX. El Paso 12/15, 2310 {EST = 0410 UT Dec 16}. I had
just reported to Glenn Hauser I have not been hearing KFOX, and well,
there they were, at local sunset. We have been hearing KBJD regularly
here, but not hearing KSVE. But at 2300 we were hearing obvious sports
talk (in Spanish) covering the Christmas music that KBJD was playing
at the time. Of course, the sports showed up after the on-the-hour ID.
The sports broadcast faded out, but we did get the clear legal KBJD ID
by woman at midnight Eastern. We didn't hear the KSVE ID, but there
isn't another likely suspect on 1650. I think they are still on the
air. They were never really reliable here (that would be KBJD).

WOR) ** VANUATU. At 0726 UT Dec 17, I find no signal on 9960, 7260 or 7890.
Here`s why, At 0803 UT: ``Subject: Vanuatu quake --- Tuned in to 9960
at 0600 on 12/17 (this evening) on the Half Moon Bay SDR, but no sign
of R. Vanuatu. Not heard on other reported frequencies either.
Listening to the news on the BBC at 0735, I found out that Vanuatu had
been hit by a 7.3 quake earlier in the evening (0147 UTC, according to
the USGS). The BBC interviewed someone in Port Vila who said the power
had gone out 10 minutes after the shaking stopped and all comms were
down. He was ONLY able to talk to the Beeb because he had a generator
and a Starlink terminal. Magnitude 6 quakes are not uncommon in
Vanuatu, but this one was, as they say, a different order of
