Glenn Hauser logs September 7-8, 2024
Sunday, September 08 2024

Hauser
** CANADA. 28174+ CW, Sept 7 at 2040, VVV DE VE1VDM/B and ends with E
x 10. It sounds slightly above 28174.0 but WBG list: ``28174 VE1VDM/B
- Colchester County NS CAN FN85ij - #0 (06 Sept 2024) Note: VVV de ID
+ grid + E × 10. Pwr 10w - dipole at about 30 - 35 feet AGL. Hrd also
with emergency tx 1.5w - 12 Dec 2022 new tx`` - QRZ.com:

``VE1VDM Canada flag Canada, Vernon Matheson, 189 Kaulback St. Apt
401, Truro, NS B2N0B6, Canada. Current operating status: VE1VDM/B 10m
beacon at 10 watts on 28.174 mhz. TX is a AA7DJ 10 meter beacon and
the antenna is a 10m dipole approximately 35' AGL - Location is remote
at FN85ij just outside of Truro NS`` - no other beacons heard on 10m
but phone from yankee-yankee land, VENEZUELA, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** GERMANY. 9670, Sept 8 at 0100, Channel 292 rock music, no break at
hourtop. S9/+10 into Maryland SDR. 0102 British-accented fast-talking
DJ over music, almost incomprehensible, so this is not Texas Radio
Shortwave which had been widely publicized, 10 kW on direxional beam
to E North America. Just as well since this is also the hour I want to
hear `Encore` classical music on WRMI 5850.

The TRSW repeat for W North America at 0300 succeeds, with TRSW ID by
YL at 0329, S9+10 into Maryland SDR. Weaker and fadey in direct
reception. Afterwards, Terry Colgan explains, ``Channel 292 failed to
transmit the program at 0100 UTC and, unbeknownst to me, had removed
the show from the online schedule. The 0300 UTC show aired as
scheduled. -- Terry N5RTC, Austin, Texas USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 13690, Sept 8 at 0635, ex-9700, RNZP S9+20, the SSOB
by far, hardly anything else on band except 13635 JBA Turkey. Tnx
Ricky Leong tip from online UT sked change: from 1859 11725, 1959
15720, 2259 17675, 0459 13690, 0859 9700, 1259 7440, 1651 9700. Those
are all AM.

And in DRM: Sun-Fri not Sat: 1651 7425, 1759 9655, 1859-2058 13840
You better have this page bookmarked:
https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/listen
because via homepage, there is still NO LINK TO THIS SW SCHEDULE: If
you enter this: www.rnzi.com
it ends up here:
https://www.rnz.co.nz/international

I sent that already to Adrian, and he already replies: ``We regret
that due to a recent upgrade to the web site the "how to listen"
option was removed. We are working on getting it restored. Meanwhile
you can access the frequency schedule at this address: Frequency
Information:  www.radionz.co.nz/international/listen
Best regards. Adrian Sainsbury | Frequency Manager, RNZ Pacific, RNZ |
Level 2, 155 The Terrace | PO Box 123 | Wellington | New Zealand``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935.000-, Sept 8 at 1854, ME music in Yemen
service, just a smidgin below nominal, no chirping or any QRM and not
on 11935.4, S9+20/25 into UTwente. 1858 sounder and Yemeni ID (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 7 at 2200 and later chex of UTwente, NO signal
from VOT English, OFF the air. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2259 monitoring: Not confirmed
Saturday September 7 at 2300 on WTWW 9475, since it`s off the air [but
9930 TOMBS is still on]. 9475 off before 2300 and for quite a while
after, but at 2315 I notice it is back on with WOR at the midpoint.
More transmitter problems? 2329 followed immediately by voice of
George McClintock himself that Pastor Pete Peters is heard daily at
3-5 pm Central on 9475. Another report:

``9475. Sat, Sep 7, 2024. 2300-2325, WTWW, Lebanon-TN, in English.
Total silence (off) till 2207; 2207 Starting with Glenn Hauser reading
many logs into program "World of Radio". Fast intermittent modulation
interruptions during the program; variations in signal quality with
almost inaudible moments, fadings. I rate this transmission as bad to
a probable problem with the transmitter, of course. 2325 Impossible to
continue listening! In time:
At 2229 returns WTWW programming with fair to good reception;
Woman/man announcers say ID and more; 2333 Man preaching. JRX (José
Ronaldo Xavier, 75) Cabedelo-Paraíba, Brasil (UTC-3)``

Confirmed UT Sunday September 8 at 0000 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20 into
Missouri SDR.

Confirmed UT Sunday September 8 at 0307 about 2 minutes into so the
0315v started early at 0305 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+17 into nearby
SDR.

Not confirmed Sunday September 8 at 1030 on WRMI 9955, since off the
air at 1058 check, just as it was already at 0651, unusual for UT
Sunday.

Also confirmed Sunday September 8 at 1900 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1323 kHz, S9+20 into UTwente. Next:

2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;

Or via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, Sept 8 at 0056, WLCR via WBCQ getting heavy QRM, seems
like spurious modulation from some other talking source, extremely
distorted, but nothing nearby to match it. Checked after this report
an hour earlier at 2356 Sept 7: ``Oh my, 9330 sounding like Saudi
11935 --- ``Horrible distortion on top of weak talk. I'm assuming this
is coming from the transmitter and not someone on top of WBCQ.
Another, "there's always something wrong at,...."? 73, Walt``
Salmaniw, BC. -- meanwhile, replies:

Don Moman, Alberta: ``9330 is "fine" here IF you are in USB. There is
a strong wandering blob on the LSB currently (0036 utc) and very
strong. It's not obvious if another tx or ??``

``I looked at Don's KiwiSDR and definitely you guys are hearing
something else badly distorted that is not received here in Montreal
and WBCQ sounds very clean. Interesting, sounds like something out
west is very distorted. I've checked again at 0055 UT using my Yeasu
FTdx10 and expanded the waterfall and it looks very clean here USB and
LSB. Gilles Letourneau, OfficialSWLchannel, Montreal, Quebec``

Don Moman, VE6JY: ``just looked over at 9330 at 0109 and the blob is
gone`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Sept 8 at 0651, this WRMI is off, while 9395 & 9455
are S9+20. 9955 has usually been running all night except UT Mondays
but this is Sunday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZUELA. 28487 USB, Sept 7 at 2045, YY5ALI calling CQ 10.
QRZ.com:
``YY5ALI Venezuela flag Venezuela, JIMMY ALI ASCANIO BATISTA,
PARROQUIA MAIQUETIA EDO. LA GUAIRA, PO BOX 20285, CARACAS, DC 1020-A,
Venezuela`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15230, Sept 8 at 0636, JBA carrier. First guess is RHC
forgot to turn off and barely propagating now; but could also be CRI
Mandarin alternating Cantonese at 0300-0900, 73 degrees from Xianyang
59 site for CIRAFs 44NE and 45N = North Korea and Hokkaido, rather
specifically, but also more or less USward. Only HFCC shows something
more: IRAN in Dari, 0550-0820, presumably wooden (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

This report dispatched at 1945 UT September 8
