** ALGERIA. 17600, July 16 at 0630, Ifrikya FM in French, S7/S9 direct and the SSOB besides several JBA carriers with Doppler flutter, but not on this. If anyone catch them in English again, let us know, but probably on no reliable schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Re my July 5 report, Alan Roe replies on the WOR iog at 1911 July 16: ``Hi Glenn, Bill, I have just checked, and confirm that the play link for "TRT VOT World" is currently (since 1830 today) live streaming the English 1830 UT broadcast. You can get there by via https://www.trtdinle.com/radyolar then scroll down to VOT Radyolari and click on TRT VOT World. Alternatively use https://www.trtdinle.com/channel/trt-vot-world-7547 and select TRT VOT World. Based on past experience, these links should work for all broadcasts except 1630 UT (1730 in winter) which is heard via the TRT VOT East link at https://www.trtdinle.com/channel/trt-vot-east I'll update the WOR Hitlist in a few days. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, July 16 at 2158, no signal direct from VOT English, but cut on a few sex late after 2200 s/on, unusable at S9 = noise level, considerably weaker than Romania 11800. 2233 into UTwente when measured, S9+40/50 in music. 2237 ``always-by-your-side`` promo, and `Turkey`s Geomarked Products` = Van, city of breakfasts, music. Did not refer us to these: https://www.dailysabah.com/life/food/expat-briefer-why-a-van-breakfast-is-special https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/van-turkey-world-capital-of-breakfasts/index.html 2244 ``a-b-y-s` again, multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2247 music. 2253 s/off version ignoring SW. 2254 IS. 2256 restart IS with German IDs. Chopoff at 2259.8* just in time to avoid extra German. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15120, July 16 at 2205, SSOB at S9+20/40 - but it`s dead air, obviously VOA failing again to turn itself off after M-F 2130-2200 Bambara; something`s gone wrong at Grimesland (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2251 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday July 16 at 0340 the 0330 on WRMI 7780, S7/S9 into Maryland SDR. Confirmed Tuesday July 16 a 1315 the 1300 on WRMI 9955, JBA direct: but, no signal rechecked at 1325! I try other WRMI frequencies: nothing on 15770, 9395, 7780, 7730, 7570, so power failure at Okee? JBA on 9455 but that could be TAIWAN. I`m concerned because WRMI was also missing from 9955 the past two Tuesdays when checking for WOR before 1330. Jeff did not reply to my inquiry about being off the air on Tuesdays. However, there is another explanation this week!: ``Space Weather Message Code: SUMX01 Serial Number: 165 Issue Time: 2024 Jul 16 1346 UTC SUMMARY: X-ray Event exceeded X1 Begin Time: 2024 Jul 16 1311 UTC Maximum Time: 2024 Jul 16 1326 UTC End Time: 2024 Jul 16 1336 UTC X-ray Class: X1.9 Location: S05W85 NOAA Scale: R3 - Strong NOAA Space Weather Scale descriptions can be found at www.swpc.noaa.gov/noaa-scales-explanation Potential Impacts: Area of impact consists of large portions of the sunlit side of Earth, strongest at the sub-solar point. Radio - Wide area blackout of HF (high frequency) radio communication for about an hour.`` Or, as spaceweather.com put it via Mike Terry: ``Departing sunspot AR3638 exploded today (July 16th @ 1326 UT), producing an X1.9-class solar flare. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash. Radiation from the flare caused a deep shortwave radio blackout over the Atlantic Ocean. Transatlantic mariners and ham radio operators may have noticed loss of signal at all frequencies below 30 MHz for as much as an hour after the flare.`` What about SWLs?! It seems unlikely such an event would recur on a `schedule` at exactly same time three weeks running. At 1327, WWCR was JBA on 15825. By 1430, 9955 was again a JBA carrier. WOR 2251 also confirmed Tuesday July 16 at 2000 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.994 kHz, S9+5 into UTwente; preceded by Wavescan, Jeff White reading in Spanish publicity about the upcoming Mexi-DX meeting in coördination with R. Educación. Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
