Logs

** ALGERIA. 17600, May 20 at 1752, NO signal from Ifrikya FM into
UTwente, apparently off; it still gets 11935 Sa`udi buzzroar, q.v. No
15160 either. 17599.998 is however on by next check 1811, S7/S9 in
French, no 15160. 1821 brief break in transmission during music. 1823
several more and stays off till 1824.5. Of course I am hunting for a
floating English segment if they can stay on air.

After music, 1837 into English with FM frequencies, but who cares
about SW? 1838 Zoom Africa, ``guh-reetings to you``, she starts. About
IT innovations 20-22 May event in Algiers. Besides some
overmodistortion, her pace and accent are a bit of an obstacle and the
musical background is annoying; 5G networks, etc. 1842 already wraps
up referring us to various web platforms for more. 1843 other
announcer about this multi-national exhibition on agriculture,
livestock. 1844 back to music-only.

17600 & 15160 are the onlies registered in HFCC every hour from 06 to
19; then 17600 & 13790 at 19-22; 13790 & 15110 at 22-03; 9500 & 9700
at 03-06. That`s it. Béchar at 131 degrees is on 15110, 9500, 17600.
Others are ``Ourgla`` at 210 degrees. Béchar, in the NW corner of
Algeria next to Morocco, is more favorable for us directly off the
back = 311 degrees NW. WRTH spells the other, SSE of Algiers, Ouargla,
which searching immediately confirms is correct. Could also be
transliterated from Arabic as Wargla -- the ``Ou`` being the French
version of W, oui2. Aoki goes with Ourgla, EiBi both as alternatives
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1120 kHz, May 20 at 1520-1530+ UT, NO signal
from KETU, 10 kW Spanish daytimer, Catoosa (Tulsa). If on, it would
certainly be audible by groundwave. It`s been sporadic in the past. I
still have a JBA carrier on 1110, more likely KFAB Omaha NE remnant
than closer KVTT Mineral Wells (Metroplex) TX. When it was newer years
ago, I visited the 1120 site: gleaming steel towers, no red or white
paint (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Sunday evening May 19 into UT Monday May 20: Four major
OKC TVs in wall-to-wall storm/tornado coverage all evening till circa
local midnight. CBS KWTV ``9`` shunted 60M to KSBI ``52``. Some of
them got live video of tornados in the dark during lightning flashes.
Again Enid lucked out, but OKC area hit and also north of here. If
anyone would like to experience what we do, I imagine that KFOR, KOCO,
KWTV, KOKH are also streaming. We got hail for 5+ minutes. Damage
inspexion next morning sees two guywires loose on the rooftop TV
antenna yet it`s still erect. Need to go up there and secure them.
More storms coming this week and next; happy May! (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935, May 20 at 1750, still 1845, 1921, horrible
buzzroaring from Riyadh, no program audio, S9/+5 into UTwente (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.010, Sunday May 19 at 2200, VOT English not off the
air, S9+30/45 into UTwente and I don`t even bother to check it direct.
UTw displays frequencies to the hundredth of one Hz, where they are
never stable. This is mostly in the top half of the .009 to .010 range
so rounding it upward tho never surpasses .010 as I am watching. Some
editors do not understand how to do this, rather lopping off all the
digits right of the decimal, can`t be bothered with precision!

Ms. Badax presents the news. 2217 song starts, ``Time for your
letters`` -- what?? I must be imagining as the song is really in
Türkiyesh! 2220 brief item about May 19 being a holiday, start of
Atatürk`s independence revolution in 1919y, now celebrated as his
``Youth and Sports Day``. 2222 L`Box theme axually starts. Usual
friendly host rushes thru more QSL requests than usual from:
``Litonia`` i.e. Latvia but the name sounds more Lithuanian? He has
trouble making out their postal address. Then Italy, India, another
India, Pakistan, Klepov in Moscow, Pakistan, India, NC/USA, Germany,
India same person as before, India same person for 3rd time: how many
letters do they send every week? Finally Fiji for the first time from
someone with an Indo-Portuguese name. 2238 out of time so play another
song. 2242 finally L`box outro, multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2244
music. 2252 Badax headlines, or rather repeating at some length the
holiday item, and about Georgia. 2255 s/off as if the 1230 on 17620.
Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2255.5 IS, 2256 pause and restart
IS with German ID, something`s always erroneous at Emirler, but
chopoff at 2257.3* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2243 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
May 13 at 2000 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.995 kHz, S9 into UTwente,
nothing on 918 or 207 kHz: do they ever test/turn those on? Also on
WRN Europe webcast, and WRMI webcast-only.

Also confirmed at 2158 the 2130 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975, S9+5
and 6160 S9+10, into UTwente.

``Good evening Glen[n], I was listening to "Wavescan" tonight on 7570
kHz (2300 UT, Sunday). Upon completion, there was a station ID and
then the current "World Of Radio" broadcast was aired. I listened to
the entire show until 0000 UT. S meter readings on my recently
calibrated Hammarlund HQ-145AC were 20db over S9. Truly 55555. I guess
this was a bonus airing? I enjoy having both shows ("Wavescan" and
"WOR") back to back in the evening. Hank Blackwood, Dalton, GA``

I see both are now on the System D sked, instead of Argentina on
weekends, so hope there to stay for a while; aims across NAm at 315
degrees like 5850, where WOR was dropped. Am glad to be on 7570!, tnx,
Jeff.

Also confirmed UT Monday May 20 at 0041 the 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15
into Querétaro SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday May 20 from 0301 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -70
Hz = 6159.930, S9/+15 into NH SDR. Next:

1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [irregular];
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

** U S A [non]. 3955, May 19 at 2300, special test of `Uncle Bill`s
Melting Pot` via Channel 292, GERMANY, good S9+15 into UTwente, while
// 9670 is JBA as to be expected that close in nightmiddle. Worried,
as previous music program was breaking up/overmodulated/distorted but
UBMP OK. Seems that rather than music, at least 50% of the hour is
talk, interviewing two musical guests, as I am distracted
by tornado warnings west of Enid; see OKLAHOMA.

Bill Tilford advises about next shows:
``Uncle Bill's Melting Pot, 15 June 2024 as follows:
A. 1700-1800 UT on 9670 Beam E-F (best for South Asia remote
listeners)
B. Repeat: 1900-2000 UT on 3955 & 6070 kHz
C. Repeat: 2300-2400 UT on 3955 (best for East Asia remote listeners)
June's program will feature music from Haiti and the Dominican
Republic.
[and one week earlier: From the Isle of Music]
All on Radio Channel 292 from Germany. Both shows honor reception
reports using kiwi SDRs PROVIDED that which SDR is specified and the
entire hour's content is reported with details (the entire hour rule
will be strictly enforced beginning in June). Reception reports can be
sent to tilfordproductions@gmail.com`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21530, May 20, Chinese? S3/S5, OSOB. Nothing in latest
HFCC; Aoki & Eibi show Sound of Hope 21529.7 and CNR1/Firedrake jammer
but not between 13 and 23. Not off-frequency so very likely jammer
from western ``China`` such as East Turkistan to be propagating way
over here mostly day path (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
