Glenn Hauser logs March 19-20, 2024
Thursday, March 21 2024

Hauser
** ARGENTINA [non]. 9955, Tue March 19 at 2350, WRMI-3 with continuous
RAE multilingual IDs: default wasteful filler instead of RAE
Portuguese on sked as M-F 23-24; like also happens at 1430-1500
``French`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 258 MCW kHz, March 19 at 0659 UT, ZSJ, 1000 watt NDB at
Sandy Lake ON, JBA vs line noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. VE1VDM/B beacon: see USA [and non]

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1120 kHz, March 19 at 2351 UT, KMOX in English
dominating; as in previous report, KETU Catoosa/Tulsa in Spanish was
back on air less than a sesquihour earlier at 2227 check. FCC shows
official March SS/SR times for KETU are 0030/1230 UT, so should be on
until 0030, but with Critical Hours power reduced from 10 to 7 kW
starting at 2230. April: 0100/1145 UT. Real sunset UT March 20 at
Enid: 0043; Vernal Equinox was at 0307 UT March 20 (Glenn Hauser, Enid
OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935, March 19 at 2351, Riyadh roaring S6/S8 direct.
0040 March 20, still S9+5 into Maryland SDR, and still audible into
Kuwait, Qatar and Kenya SDRs; 0245 next check, gone from all of them.
Next check 1958 March 20, on again, S9+20 into UTwente. Vatican may
pray it will have QSYed again by Rosary Sunday March 24 at 1940.
Chopped off at 2021* as I still have UTwente in background. Back on by
2056 check into Maryland SDR; at 2208, S9/+10 direct (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, continued from last report, VOT English: altho s/on
2300 as if the 1330 broadcast only, March 19 at 2352 s/off with
all-wrong full English sked of local times called UTC; 2354 IS, 2356
restart IS with German IDs; 0000 March 20 timesignal 2 seconds late as
heard direct, S/on extraneous German. Off by next check 0020.
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.005, March 20 at 2257, VOT not off the air, IS & IDs
in English, S9+30/40 into UTwente, 2300 s/on for the 1330 on 13635
only, news. Abruptly dumps off air at 2307.5*; back on *2309.3 but
only a few sex dead air, off again. XJRTV understation CCCCCCI not on
yet. *2310.7 TRT back on and stays, now 5960.002, so could it be a
different unit? 2311 badax with a talk about yogurt, could not
understand title of the segment. 2320 `Middle East and Turkey` on
multi-national corps. 2326.7 `Sports Panorama` about stupid ballgames.
2333.6 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2336 very lively song - we wonder
what they are about but they never tell us. Adds to the mystique? Then
another song, and more and more, nothing but songs until 2353 s/off
for the 1330 only, 2354 IS, now with XJRTV underaudible. 2356 pause
and restart IS with German IDs. Off 2357.5* uncovering XJRTV, std
denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 245 MCW kHz, March 20 at 0657 UT, FS, 400 watt NDB at Falls,
Sioux, SD. JBA vs line noise level, and so is this:
326 MCW kHz, March 20 at 0707 UT, MA, 400 watt NDB at MidlAnd TX
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also CANADA

** U S A. 13563+, March 20 at 2221, JBA dash and PCO, HIFER beacon in
Pine, ColoradO, I`ve heard before. But has been many weeks since I`ve
logged anything on this ISM band, not even K6FRC, despite scansthru at
least once a day at variable hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Reply to my inquiry where to find 10m ham beacon
info, no longer WI5V: ``Hi Glenn! WI5V is no longer the IARU Region 2
Beacon Coordinator and I understand that his beacon website is no
longer being updated, so perhaps he has taken the site down. I can
hear WI5V’s beacon on 28256 nearly every day, so it’s still
operating.

The new Region 2 Coordinator is Jerry Moyer, AC5JM, who also has a
beacon easily heard on 28258.5. You can access a list of active and
inactive Region 2 beacons that is updated daily from the website at
https://www.iaru-r2.org/en/on-the-air/beacon-network/
or directly from
https://storage.iaru-r2.org/index.php/s/mDCqpdaf8AXt3An
The list may then be downloaded as an Excel file and sorted. Another
list with worldwide coverage that is updated daily that you might find
helpful can be found at
http://www.dl8wx.de/bake_kw.htm
As I’ve mentioned before, there are about four or five of us who
contribute our 10-meter beacon logs semi-regularly to
ndblist@groups.io which are then used to update

Steve Howe, Saint Albans, VT``

Penetrator 500 at 20'.

anything like that. Here's the QSL card for the beacon:`` [cheesecake,
leggy lady on roofedge next to antenna] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2234 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees,

Confirmed Tuesday March 19 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/20 into
Missouri SDR.

Confirmed Wednesday March 19 at 1410 on WRMI 9955, S7/S9 direct and
noisy; however, was NOT on air at first check 1400, while 9395 & 9455
were OK.

Also confirmed Wednesday March 19 at 2030.5 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002, S9/+5 into UTwente, following ADDX in German. I wish they
would not allow the closing theme of that to overlap start of WOR.

Also confirmed Wednesday March 19 at 2100 on WBCQ 7489.949, S8/S9 into
Maryland SDR. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

UNIDENTIFIED. 26425 USB, March 20 at 2210, 2-way in Russian? Mentioned
``dvatset`` a few times, but also ``polski`` -- Slavic, anyway, one
side S9+10/20 stronger than the other. Surely not from Europe now.

26555 LSB, March 20 at 2214, multi-way pileup/talkovers, partly in
Spanish. Lots more freebanders above 26.6, and on both sides of the
legal CB; yet relatively little activity on the 10m beacon band above
28.15 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0019 UT March 21
