** ALGERIA. 17600, Jan 6 at at 1616, S7/S9 music from Ifrikya FM is slightly overmodulated distorting, and spewing splatter up as far as 17650, less on the down side. Had not noticed any of that before. 17600 seems off by 1900 rather than scheduled -2000* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Jan 6 at 1743, LRA36 is already on with songs, S6/S7. 1836 still songs, cuts off modulation, then ``probando`` test counts up and down, doesn`t know he`s on the air? Some other talk, 1847 more dead air; 1849 music; 1852 YL DJ greets listeners; 1900 4 pm time check, `Nacional Noticias` with annoying musical background. Kept listening past 1945, more YL DJ, songs, greetings, 4+ pm TCs. Nothing whatsoever about Antarctica! Instead they are relaying R. Nacional, Bs. As., probably // 870. Yes, at 2020 she mentions 870 and 98.7 FM. I hear nothing about a presidential visit; it`s the chainsaw guy, Javier Milei, flying to Marambio first, maybe not yet Esperanza. 2300 recheck, now trace of a signal direct including the reduced carrier. UT January 7 at 0007, still good S7/S9 into Argentine remote with music, and soon a long talk stretch. 0026 a genuine LRA36 ID, unclear if still relaying LRA Nacional otherwhen. NO: 0035 YL with ``CQ de LU1ZV, boletín - antártico`` and historical radio news from many years ago, hardly a breaking ``bulletin``. Etc. Manuel Méndez had reported at 1745: ``ANTARCTICA, 15476usb, LRA 36, Radio Nacional Arcángel San Gabriel, Base Esperanza, 1732-, 06-01, relaying Radio Nacional, songs, comments, ID "En todo el país, Radio Nacional". Today special program due to the visit to Base Marambio and Base Esperanza of the president of Argentina. Weak signal at the moment. https://www.tvpublica.com.ar/post/milei-partio-a-la-antartida-para-visitar-las-bases-marambio-y-esperanza (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 4885v+, Jan 6 at 0147, S7 open carrier into Missouri remote, varies +19/28 Hz, similar offset like R. Clube do Pará before it vanished a couple weeks ago. Following tip on WOR iog: ``Currently at 0023 UT have a strong carrier on 4885 KHz - maybe Rádio Clube do Pará is coming back? 73, Mike Beu, KD5DSQ, Austin, Texas``. By 0422 it`s JBA talk into Bonaire SDR varying +20/23 Hz. Pardinho gets JBA on +23; Brasília makes it out better, continuous talk in Portuguese, S9 vs storm noise, and with an automatic 5?-pip timesignal at 0430. If Pará, it`s much weaker than before, both direct and remotedly. Even at Brasília, 4985 RBC is much stronger. As I recheck direct at 0433, 4885 is JBA S5/S8. Still on at my further rechex, 0504 S9+10 but dead air? 0737 JBA carrier. Meanwhile Manuel Méndez reported directly at 0625: ``Yes Mike, Rádio Clube is back but with a weaker signal than usual. Log in Lugo, NW of Spain: BRAZIL, 4885, Rádio Clube do Pará, Belém, 0604-0633, 06-01, Rádio Clube is back on the air after several days out, but at the moment it seems to be on with less power than usual. Relaying Rádio Bandeirantes news. Very weak. 15421`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140 & 11760, Jan 6 at 1658, both of the only RHC frequencies scheduled on at midday, are missing. Paying some attention later: 2312 already song after news, ROTP? 2315 ``always-by-your-side`` promo, and `The Energy Agenda`, don`t recall that segment before, new for new year? 2320 ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, song. 2325 `Turkey`s Geomarked [sic] Products`, about Tandoory[?] pastries from some town. 2328 ``WYEH`` again, music. 2333 `WYEH`` #3! and music. 2338 ``WYEH`` #4! and 2-minute multi-lingual ID filler reel, music. 2344 ``WYEH`` #5, song. 2348 ``WYEH`` #6, enough!! and music. Note: the music is never announced or identified in any way; just as well? As we couldn`t understand the names. Of course, they *could* explain the songs in English at some length; the music-fill must amount to at least half the broadcast hour, more than that this time. 2352 s/off version with correct! B23 UTimes and frequencies, but incomplete overlooking this very emission! 2353 IS. Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2356 restart IS with German IDs. UT January 7: extraneously still on at 0000 with almost accurate timesignal, quick German s/on, skipping all those satellite parameters; same news sounder as English, Nachrichten. It still overcomes the JBA CCCCCCI from EAST TURKISTAN. The Germod seems a bit gemuffelt. Still going past 0020: will the lucky masculine or feminine German hearer past 1 am local get a full hour? No, by 0028 I am hearing Chinese instead on 5960.001, only S9 into UTwente, as I am simulplaying LRA36 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non].
