Glenn Hauser logs December 23-24, 2023
Sunday, December 24 2023

Logs
** ALGERIA. 17600, Dec 23 at 1641, Af/ME music at S7/S9, the SSOB one
unit better than 17790 WRMI. Aoli & EiBi show Ifrikya FM, site Béchar,
long hours 07-20 UT. EiBi including 8 minutes of English at 1900. A
good spot for music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Dec 23 not checked direct until
1957 when there is no signal. But into two Argentine remotes, about
same S7 level vs continuous background noise. 2027 CQ and ``Radio
Boletín Antárctico``, hardly Breaking News but noting anniversaries: a
crutch for programming ideas; if there is a chronology of stuff
happening, there is an odd anniversary almost every day, no matter how
insignificant. 2036 Morse code and back to music. Next check at 2336,
still going with music, and 0010+ Dec 24; 0014 multilingual RNASG ID
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5910, Dec 23 at 0357, CRI relay is S9+30/40 but JBM in
English. 6000, Dec 23 at 0358, RHC is S9+25/35 but suptorted in
English. Somethings` always wrong at RadioCuba and RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Dec 23 at 1645, JBA carrier, presumably RHC as nothing
else is scheduled. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6875 USB, Dec 23 at 2320, music vs high storm noise
level from across all of west Texas. Many reports here as Radio 48 via
MRI:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,123045.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 23 at 2322, VOT not off the air, `The Captain`s
Log` and theme. Could be opening or closing like all shows playing
exactly same announcement at start and finish. Direct, vs heavy storm
noise from west Texas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Correcting the time: 2145 not 2245; MTIA is at 2105-2200:

11720, Fri Dec 22 at 2145, VOA with last part of `Music Time
in Africa` unusually interviewing an opera singer, Justin Austin. Too
much talk, too little music. Not clear what the African connexion be,
unless he`s Black, as is obviously American, born in Germany, military
brat? Good signal from Grimesland via a mid-America remote. Tnx to tip
from Alan Roe`s holiday programming schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 13750, Dec 23 at 1647, S6/S9 of Swahili, the SSOB
extracontinental, and the OSOB except algo on 13830. Discounting
intracontinentals on 13820, 13845. It`s VOA via SAO TOME, this
semihour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed UT
Saturday December 23 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, S5/S7 into Maryland SDR
offbeam.

Also confirmed Saturday December 23 at 1700 & 2030 on WRN North
America webcast. At 2030 also on WRMI webcast only, coincidence?

Also confirmed Saturday December 23 from 2029 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM,
Wentzville MO, S9+18 into nearby Warrenton SDR, which tends to
skip/hiccup a lot making it nonuseful for continuous program
listening. Next:

0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]
0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600]
1130 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [also webcast, phonecast; jammed by Cuba?]
2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB
[Unique Radio on Operational Break, this week only but still
streaming]
1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2221]
1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but confirmed last 3 weeks]
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW or 5130v?
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

Thanks this week for a generous quarterly check on the Winter
Solstice, from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated, or via
PayPal,
not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 3265.149, Dec 23 at 0201, WBCQ as `AAAWWW` is running way
overtime. Just now checked as he mentioned ``3265`` was now testing on
air, nowhere near full 50 kW power, maybe exciter only. But I find it
quite strong into NH SDR, S6/S8 and as good or better than 7490! Hal
Turner finally JIP at 0203 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 730, Dec 23 at 0750 UT, classical music, a surprise as
no stations are overtly so formatted; pause and more as if album cuts.
Not recognizable as ``holiday`` or ``religious`` but maybe, and/or
anomaly for The Season. Would KKDA Korean TX or XEX Deportes CDMX do
this? On 730, no CBC/SRC nor any US public radio stations (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0019 UT December 24
