Logs
** CHILE. 28445 USB, Dec 22 at 2309, CB32T calling QRZ and making
quick contacts including USA, name Kiko? Occasional CCI talkovers.
Almost the OSOB, except for unID weaker 28425 USB, and no beacons.
QRZ.com gives us a lot more info than heard; never mentioned Club
Traiguén:

``CB32T Chile flag Chile

https://www.qrz.com/db/CB32T

So this is final day of event. Where is Traiguén? ``a city and commune
in Malleco province, Araucanía region``. Google map shows inland north
of Temuco. I guess that`s the one; same name applied to some other
places. There is also a namesake island (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6872 USB, Dec 22 at 2319 music, 2320 SSTV beepery,
2322 back to Xmasmx, no announcements heard. More unID reports here,
also earlier on 6870 USB and there were separate logs on 6871 LSB:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,122950.0.html
SSTV images of chickens, so obvious question, Thunder Chicken Radio?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** RUSSIA. 7602 CW, Dec 22 at 0439, long message seems to be repeating
between pauses, starts RLO DE RIT. Signal is fluttery as if from afar
and aurorally affected. R- implies Russia, of course. I get six hits
by searching the UDXF iog on RIT 7602; from 2009y to 2022y, including
``Russian Navy - Northem Fleet HQ, Severomorsk CW RIT Wkg RLO``;
``The schedules for these messages are: 0900z 1200z 1800z 2100z.
Frequencies noted being used for these messages are: 4433, 4807, 4973,
5753 and 7602`` -- so RLO is the station called but not heard,
location unknown. Severomorsk is just NE of Murmansk in extreme NW
Russia near Finland and Norway, inlet from the Arctic Ocean. BTW, the
code presumably includes unfamiliar Cyrillic letters (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Fri Dec 22 at 2300, token English from SFR, VG direct;
after news, long interview with someone of a costume company you`ve
never heard of, but seen their stuff in movies or on stage; 2325 over
to Lebanon correspondent about Xmas in the ME (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.005, Dec 22 at 2347, VOT English not off the
air, S9+30/40 into UTwente at ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, music.
2352 ``W-Y-E-H`` promo *again*, s/off with correct but incomplete B23
sked, overlooking this very broadcast, IS; something`s always awry at
Ankara. 2356 IS restarts with German IDs; <0000 Dec 23, timesignal
ends a few sex early even considering internet delay, s/on extraneous
German, news starts a bit before 0001, usw. 0034 still going with
music. 0043 multilingual ID filler reel. Something`s always erroneous
at Emirler. At least modulation is OK, but makes the ChiCom JBA
underneath. Not off till about 0055* as if intentional extension
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 11720, Fri Dec 22 at 2245, VOA with last part of `Music Time
in Africa` unusually interviewing an opera singer, Justin Austin. Too
much talk, too little music. Not clear what the African connexion be,
unless he`s Black, as is obviously American, born in Germany, military
brat? Good signal from Grimesland via a mid-America remote. Tnx to tip
from Alan Roe`s holiday programming schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2222 monitoring: confirmed Friday December 22
at 2158 just in time the 2130 on IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 kHz, good
trans-Europe into UTwente with no Romania or other QRM. Likewise tail
of WRMI 2130 on internet only.

Also confirmed Friday December 22 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, but I was
really listening to webcast. Next:

0130 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW
2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM
0100 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]
0330vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0600]
1130 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [also webcast, phonecast; jammed by Cuba?]
2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1200 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB
[Unique Radio on Operational Break, this week only but still
streaming]
1230 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB or 3210-USB [previous #2221]
1500 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [unsked but confirmed last 3 weeks]
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW or 5130v?
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0230 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

Thanks this week for a generous quarterly check on the Winter
Solstice, from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated, or via
PayPal,
not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. (9955), Fri Dec 22 at 2200-2259, WRMI webcast with `Over the
Horizon Radio` Xmas special with music from various countries, some
obscure. DJ also voices frequent Icom ads. Never said his name and if
he gave it at end, that was chopped short for a `WeLoveShortwave`
fruitcake! ad. Also has several other times on skedgrid as OTH Radio.
Programming page names him Larry Deyoe; offers lots of QSLs but no
SDRs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WBCQ chex ahead of `AAAWWW`, Dec 23 at 0057: 5130.264,
ATTATT via NH SDR; 7490 -37 Hz = 7489.963, FKB via Maryland SDR. But
at 0058 there`s an echo, as T**** has been Dumped from 5130! 0059
already hearing AW interjexion before ID; 0100 WTO theme; 0101 talx
over it with yuletide refs, so must be a new one. 0103 says it`s 12
degrees so he must be in ME, then Angela on phone must remain back in
FL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 3215, Dec 22 at 0439, WWCR-1 modulation sounds moreorless
backtonormal, rather than suptorted. Perhaps my obs of the last few
nights got to them (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic just barely audible MW carrier check, Dec
22 at 0748: only 891 kHz in non-exhaustive bandscan. usual 1 kHz het
upon WLS. Surely ALGERIA, about as late as it can be on shortest
dayofyear. Site Ouyed Falet is not included in the extensive locality
list at gaisma.com, but it`s just west of Algiers, so what`s the
sunrise time there? 0657 UT. With 300 kW it can still be propagating
westward less than an hour after LSR. Latest will become in a biweek,
0702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
