Hauser Update
Sunday, October 15 2023

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Oct 14 at 1853, LRA36 is on, S3/S5
into Argentine SDR; 1900 credit Eduardo calling from Spain; 1903 a
museum at Marambio Base; 1908 multilingual RAE ID; off already at next
check 2208. But 2308 recheck, on again, with multi-tones interrupting
song, or part of it? Rather seems to be QRM, deliberate, repeatedly.
Problem at SDR -- same wideband thing every 2.5 MHz or so from 0 to 30
MHz on H2Ofall! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 3365.10, Oct 13 at 2312, JBA algo into Argentine SDR, could
be R. Cultura Araraquara, following this tip via Paul Flanagan, BDXC
which I passed on to the WOR iog:

``From DX FANZINE: "Very interesting breaking news from Brazil. From
21 to 02 UTC this evening Radio Cultura Araraquara will make a
transmission attempt on 3365 kHz with the apology of the eclipse
experimentation. Looks like the actually intention is to check if the
transmitter, which has been turned off for a while, is still working.
It’s worth checking if it’s true and if it happens."``

3365.077, much better S7/9+5 when I can get onto Brasília SDR, 2316
song; 2319 sounds like jingle ID but uncopied, another song. 2326
frenetic announcement maybe included ID. 2328 more of that, 2329
``Cultura FM``, ads with lots of phone numbers, finally mentions ``em
Araraquara`` - hardly ``cultural``, IMHO. Some more explicit IDs to
2339 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 6115, Oct 13 at 0640, strange music sort of chanting, not
expected from R. Nikkei, but it`s too late for Congo; and 0700 in
Japanese; better signal direct than the other Nikkei on 6055. Date
correct, omitted from previous report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Sat Oct 14 at 2029, REE outro for `Amigos de la Onda
Corta`, media- if not DX-program. Must be at 2005 or so, VG direct
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Oct 14 at 2227, VOT English is not off the air,
VG S9+45 into UTwente, with `Gripping Piles`, something patronized by
Recep. No time to listen more, but still on at 2300 opening German to
chopoff at 2301* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 26110 FM, Oct 14 at 1514, discussion of beetlenut squash
between complete fadeouts, no doubt KMK282, Stockton/Sacramento CA
with studio feed from KOVR or KMAX TVs.

CA 10m beacons are also in as recently logged: 28300 K6FRC, and 28244
WA6APQ; among others (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 28243 CW, Oct 14 at 2007. dash and VVV DE AA1SU/B. WI5V
roster: ``28.243 AA1SU C ESSEX JUNCTION, VERMONT # 5W, DIPOLE OTA
after 5 yrs off 13 Dec 2022`` -- that can mean two polar opposites.
QRZ.com:
AA1SU/B USA flag USA
PAUL N GAYET, 11 CHERRY STREET, ESSEX JUNCTION, VT 05452 -- but
nothing about his beacon. Many others audible now (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

No new contributions to acknowledge this week, in US funds but not
necessarily, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com

Or MO, check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. No luck on daytime MWDX during the Eclipse, 1620-1640 UT Oct
14. Drove NW of Enid but could not get far enough to escape horrible
line noise. Would have required advance scouting even further for
quietude. At least we saw the bite projected thru a pinhole (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2340 UT October 14
