Logs
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Sept 30 at 1806 tune-in, good
S6/S8 into Argentine SDR, LRA36 probably has been on for a semihour,
just now signing on, Juan Benavente with `Uniendo Voces`, joint
produxion of RAE, Antarctic Command, and Universidad Nacional de
Quilmes. 1810 `Historias del Sexto Continente`; my lunch break and too
much else going on to monitor much, 1858 closing credits for Quilmes,
into `Noticias Australes` about Ushuaia. 1955 about ham ops from
mountains; 1957 contact info closing ham news segment, 1958 brief
Morse code; 1959 `Momento Musical`; 2105 recheck, still with song.
Walt Salmaniw, BC, remarx to the WOR iog, ``signal is steadily
improving into Masset, and is now (2104) at fair to good level. I'm
expecting it to improve to excellent levels! 73, Walt``. So I check
direct here at 2128, still not expecting it, and indeed no trace. 2238
music, now peaking up to S9+10 into Argie remote. They were to get a
new 10 kW transmitter; is this it already? 2300 still going strong.
2335 still on with noisy echoic SFX? hitting S9+15, surely about to
close. Uniendo Voces ID. 2340 plays canned sign *on* announcement,
by mistake? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 15034 USB, confirming my obs of no info from Trenton, on
Sept 30 to the WOR iog: ``Trenton Military - 15034 kHz. Tuned in at
1634 and off at 1700 UT. S9 signal into central NC. Aviation weather -
no report received for all locations. Doug White, KA5ETS, Carrboro,
NC`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 5800, Sept 30 at 0616, lite pulse jamming vs open
carrier totalling S9+5/25, as once again, WRMI must have failed to
turn off #10 transmitter at 0400, and the DentroCubans are all set in
case any exile programming resume. Meanwhile they will pollute
innocent frequencies for the greater good of info blockade (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. Chris Mackerell, NZ, replies to my last report about 6100:
``Race website with tracking:
https://minitransat.fr/
French bread for while you listen from one of the race sponsors:
https://www.laboulangere.com/
Cakes too :-) Cheers, Chris`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** HAWAII [and non]. 6501 USB, Sept 30 at 0624, S9+30 robotic marine
weather quoting numerous coördinates in Pacific Ocean, somewhat
overmodulated / distorted, as so often the case with USCG
transmitters; can`t they do better? EiBi shows NMO Honolulu at
0600-0635. 6501 is timeshared with other USCGs: NMN Chesapeake VA, NRV
Guam, NOJ Kodiak. Only other time for NMO is 1200-1235; but `shares`
may overlap, like: NMN until -0615, -1215. Do they coördinate in real
time to avoid that?

Also VFF Iqaluit, Canada could use 6501 anytime, via 3 different
sites:
cb-Cambridge Bay, Victoria Island NU 69N06'53"-105W01'11"
hr-Hay River 60N50'27"-115W46'12"
in-Inuvik NWT 68N19'33"-133W35'53"
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11530, Sept 30 at 1527, JBA, only signal in the
11.5s, presumably current spot for the Turco/Kurdo radio war between
Recep the jammer and Dengê Gel via Uzbekistan? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)fs

** LIBERIA. 6050, Sept 30 at 0621, JBA carrier now tho none recently
in regular bandscans, ergo ELWA, as Manuel Méndez has just reported in
the WOR iogroup: ``Log in Reinante, NW of Spain, Sangean ATS-909X,
Tecsun PL-880, cable antenna, 8 meters. 6050, ELWA Radio, Monrovia,
*0557-0611, 29-09, interval signal, identification at 0559: "Good
Morning this is ELWA Radio ....", English religious comments and
songs. Reactivated after about three months out of the air. 15421``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Sept 29 at 2200, token English from SNR is VG direct
into portable DX-398 with a few feet of clipon. 2205 feature is about
paella since Sept 20 was World Paella Day: interview with a Spanish
chef now dishing it out in USA; 2212 next subject is wines, interview
about Galicia. Late in the semihour I discover somewhat better
reception on 15520 beamed the wrong way -- about same strength but
less fading than 17855. Likely more and more the case in darkening
October until drop to 9690 at monthend (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SWITZERLAND [and non]. Chris Mackerell, NZ replies to my last
report about DRM: ``Yes, stereo is available in DRM and has been for
many years, but of course requires more bits than mono, so needs
better reception conditions. Back around ~2005 DW DRM broadcasts from
Sines were often in stereo and provided some very good reception here
in
New Zealand. KTWR has also done some excellent tests in stereo in the
past. Cheers, Chris`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 29 at 2200 and several further chex, nothin`
but noise into DX-398 portable with reelout. If really on the air --
and a good ~30% chance it`s not -- it may as well not be, insofar as
reaching a CNAm target. Did not get to computer in time to check it at
UTwente, but by 2320 or so, definitely not providing any extra German.
Quite the contrary with reception from SPAIN, q.v.

11785, Sept 30 at 2158, VOT not off the air, S9+20 into UTwente with
IS & English IDs. Timesignal way early by ~half a minute before 2200
and s/on. Overmodulated and distorted, much worse on music. After news
dated today, 2213 travelog about Sakarya again; 2220 multi-lingual ID
filler reel, music; 2227 always-by-your-side promo; 2228 Geomarked
Products about tomato seeds, music; 2233 with-you-24-hours promo; 2234
`Gripping Piles`; mostly music; 2252 canned s/off, 2253 IS. 2255
restart IS, but chopoff before any spurious German IDs (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. The blasting high line noise level I was complaining about
has diminished somewhat but not eliminated. Not sure if this result
from any OG&E effort. Now it`s more sporadic bursting than continuous.
Unrelated, but my Icom ICR-75 is now sidelined as its audio output is
no longer normal even after warmup or leaving it on continually. The
JRC NRD-545 is now my primary rx, using the same 100` E/W longwire as
the Icom, u.o.s. Frequency measurements to 3 decimal places not
practical, only 2 at most. Noise level is still worst on LW, S7/S9,
but slight lowering again JB audiblizes fringe NDBs in the daytime
beyond Oklahoma, Sept 30 at 1539:
332 kHz MCW, IC, Wichita KS, listed 400 watts
395 kHz MCW, CA, Newton/Harvs KS, 25 watts
407 kHz MCW, HRU, Herington KS, 25 watts
I`ll know things are again close to normal if I can hear in daytime:
293 kHz MCW, FBY, Fairbury NE, 25 watts just beyond Kansas.
I am still not hearing 255 kHz MCW, SW, Stillwater OK. If really on as
some allege, must be on reduced power from listed 25 watts
That leaves the only day audible Okies:
341 kHz MCW, EI, Enid, 25 watts but JBA despite proximity
515 kHz MCW, PN, Ponca City, 25 watts but always much stronger than
anything lower on MW or LW - maybe partly due to better receiver
sensitivity and shorter antenna (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2210 monitoring: confirmed Sept 29
NEW time of Friday 2200 on WRMI 9955, JBA on portable DX-398 with
reel-out clipon, but sufficient to recognize. Hope reception better
elsewise and elsewhere. Carrier seemed to be on already at 2151; music
at 2153, but not the IS & ID loop to ``top of hour``; 2159 canned
`WNYW` style ID and 2200 WOR theme. Tnx, Jeff, for another airtime.

Also confirmed UT Saturday September 30 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, S9+40
into Georgia SDR. As often, a bit of extraneous music between ID and
my opening.

Confirmed Saturday September 30 at 1600 on WRN N America webcast.

Confirmed Saturday September 30 at 1928 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+15
into nearby SDR, about 4 minutes into so started early circa 1924.

No new financial support this week, which might have been sent via MO
or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WBCQ `AAAWWW` check on webcast, UT Sat Sept 30 at 0000;
interrupts `WTO` theme early. 0004 says trimulcasting on 7490, 5130
and 3265 --- what about 6160-? Yes, something else, `The Intelligence
Report` at 0006 check. What does the program sked show on 6160 at
00-01 UT Sat? still `AAAWWW`. Only time listed for I.R. there is 00-01
UT Tue on 7490. I check the offsets into NH SDR: 6160 -68 Hz =
6159.932; 7490 -74 Hz = 7489.926; 5130 +186 Hz = 5130.186; and 3265
+128 at first but steadily updrifting in a few minutes to +177 where
it slows down; by 0034 down to +133 descending slowly. Meanwhile Allan
was fiddling with phone lines, musing about UFOs and AI, with ``my
beautiful wife`` Angela on remote while he`s in MC, meaning Monticello
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13845, Sat Sept 30 at 1531, astounded to hear Arabish on
WWCR-3! YL speaking, bit of music, then OM presumably sermonizing.
What does program sked show? STILL with wrong UT conversion times, 6
hours instead of 5 ahead of Central! No hint of anything non-English!
Since we know `The Talking Machine Show` is really at 17 UT Sats on
WWCR-2 12160, as we listen to it every week, including later today,
this means the Central times are correct if assumed CDT rather than
CST, and all the UTs in the right column SHOULD read one hour earlier.
This `international` SW station on air for sesqui-decades still hasn`t
understood UT. But if no correxions be made, will again become
accurate from Nov to Mar! Unless we be forced to stay on DST: how is
that legislation going? More important matters right now.

Anyhow, sked at 10-11 am CT Sats on 13845 is: `Your Firm Foundation`
with Frank Ricks -- so is that what`s in Arabic, or is it something
completely different? There are 5 other times for that title on the
sked, so check if they be Arabish: Fri 1230-1300 on 15825; Wed
2100-2200 on 9350; Sat 2200-2300 on 9350; Sun 2300-2400 on 9350; Mon
0500-0600 on 4840. Still dated as of Sept 1, but should soon get
another update as of Oct 1. At the obvious program website I see
nothing about non-English, nor anything about being on SW (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Sept 30 at 0645, S9+5, enough signal to discern that
RV is modulating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VATICAN. 13830, Sat Sept 30 at 1529, VR ``Christus Vincit`` IS,
1530 ``Laudetur Iesus Christus``, s/on in Amharic mentions Ethiopia,
then some Horn-of-Afric-ish music; S7/S9, the SSOB = strongest signal
on band, except for North Americans, 13605, 13845. One more instance
of SMG`s ability to send bigsigs in the opposite direxion - are they
really 180 degrees off, or merely with no screening to diminish
back-lobe radiation? 1530 bc HFCC-registered as 250 kW at 98 degrees!
That`s way off, toward Persian Gulf & Sri Lanka. Another anomaly:
Ethiopia is more like 140 degrees. 13830 has lots more for EAf in
store, various languages after 1600 via Madagascar instead, in which
case we would get overspill from its forward beam; and 17-19 back to
SMG (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17790, Sept 30 at 0131 check, again no signal into Utah
SDR, rather than PanAm from WRMI? as heard 48 hours ago (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
