** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Sept 20 at 1500, sounds like Turkish music, i.e. jammer against and/or Dengê Gel, which recently quit the 17 MHz band for 11510, but once jammer caught up, into the cat-and-mouse jumparound. No other significant signals now below 11600 such as 11510. Later 11540 confirmed as I see this Sept 20 on the WOR iog:
``Dengê Gel has started using alternate frequencies to avoid the Turkish jammer. Noted today at 0640 on 11540, with Erdogan speech on 11520. When Pridnestrovye was used in the past, signal strength here in the U.K. was much stronger. Probably still via Tashkent. Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, Sept 20 cuts on late at *1500.5, VOMK in unreadable English, S6/S9+10; by 1503 changed to the YL in presumed Dhivehi. Propagation degraded so not as strong as usual, but more than one could expect from Uzbekistan site rather than Australia. Which is continuing to be a matter of controversy; another possibility is that more than one site may be in use on different days (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Sept 20 after 2200, token English from REE main feature on quick midcheck, VG into Maryland SDR, interview about Hemingway and his connexions to Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 20 after 2200, VOT English back to VG signal into UTwente; `Weekly Commentary` - or was it `Weekly Analysis` started shortly after 2230 until almost 2250 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Wonder what`s the problem now? Next chex at 1656 and later, 9330 back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085 & 5130+, Sept 20 at 0036, still no signals from WTWW planning to resume, nor WBCQ Trumpmitter. 5010 WRMI is on but not yet 5050 until 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, Wed Sept 20 at 1930, WRMI relaying VOA News, and 1935 `Flashpoint Ukraine`; final item is interview with CEO of DragonFly about how drones in private hands will soon be as fun and ubiquitous as the internet. 1959 VOA ID sung by sounds like Louis Armstrong, neat -- but NO WRMI ID and 2000 immediately into gospel huxter. The casual uninformed listener would conclude that VOA is now a religious outlet, violating Separation Of Church And State (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 860, Sept 20 at 1854 UT, KKOW Pittsburg KS, is off! During routine bandscan from ~25 km north of Enid. Did not know it had any problems; neighbor 690 KGGF Coffeyville KS is VG as usual, both 10 kW. On 860 seems a JBA fast SAH but would not expect any daysigs from others nearest in TX, AR, IA. On 860 and above there is lite line noise audible even tho no powerlines in sight where parked along US 81/60/64 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1130, Sept 20 at 1656 & 1855 UT chex, KLEY Wellington KS is still silent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1290, Sept 20 at 1857 UT, ``Texhoma`s NewsTalk 1290`` slogan, i.e. KWFS Wichita Falls TX, with barely an undertrace of KMMM Pratt KS, on caradio north of Enid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 104.3, Sept 20 at 1952 UT, `B 104-3 The Point``, and rock.
