Glenn Hauser logs August 29-30, 2023
Thursday, August 31 2023

Hauser
** CUBA. 5025, Aug 30 at 0025, R. Rebelde is again/still OFF. David
Crawford replies early UT Aug 30 to previous reports:

``The movies are Cubavisión TV audio, aka TeleCV, a domestic channel.
Not to be confused with Cubavisión Internacional, aka CVI, which is a
separate channel. There have been lots of recent, totally random CV
audio relays in place of RHC SPN and also in place of Rebelde on
5025.

There are also some unlisted, irregular, evening Rebelde FM relays on
RHC SPN freqs -- 11950 2200+ Z from Bauta is a good freq and time to
check.

RHC SPN showed up on unlisted, strong 9600 from Bauta at 0200 Z on 26
AUG, gone at 0305 Z recheck, not heard since.

RHC was completely off the air along with 5025 this local morning,
1300+ 29 AUG Z, undoubtedly for the passage of tropical cyclone
Idalia. It's all back as of 0030 30 AUG Z.

One further data point, 5025 is NOT back tonight yet as of 0145 Z,
Quillabamba is there weakly instead w/ SPN preacher. David E.
Crawford, Indian River City, Florida``

Even my large-scale atlas does not show any I.R.C., but county of same
name is NE of Okeechobee on the east coast between Melbourne and Fort
Pierce, well away from hurricane path. No, mapquest finds it further
north near or part of Titusville on US1 east of Orlando. Googlemap
claims wind and rain there at 1704 UT Aug 30 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Aug 30 at 2327, matching spurs peaking about 2.3 kHz
plus/minus out of RHC transmitter, and further messiness especially on
low side out to 11740. This time I am not attributing it to 11780
Brasil transmitter. Tuned directly to 11760 it sounds squealy.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11860, Aug 30 at 2324, S7/S9 humroar, no program
modulation, presumed Republic of Yemen Radio, via severely ailing SA
transmitter. No Cuban residual pulse jamming audible now, presumably
buried by this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Monday August 30 at 2200, token English from SFR, VG
into Maryland SDR, again cohostessed only by Amy Egan & Marilýn
Quintana. First about a Spanish cinema master, and how he dealt with
the Franco dictatorship. 2222 on to anniversary of a fotographeress,
Colita. Almost as good on 15520 for ME, 17715 for SAm; and inferiorly
squealy on 11670 for Af (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Aug 30 at 2155, VOT is on already with IS and
English IDs, S9+45/50 into UTwente and somewhat distorted, more so
unfortunately during music. But I`m listening first to simulSpain
17855. At 2213, talk about AI, outro at 2217 as having been `Gripping
Piles`; distorted music break. 2230 again about AI, this time the
badax, re US military applications, mentioning the Pentagun and
Silicon Valley, a repeat of yesterday. 2239 outro `Weekly Commentary,
and ``Always [sic] By Your Side`` promo, music. 2248 `Feeling
Supreme/The Healing Supring``, repeat of Aug 28 about anemia. 2253
s/off by badax. Fragment of IS and off 2255* - no finesse. Something`s
always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2205 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees,

Confirmed Tuesday August 29 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, VG S9+30 into
Georgia SDR. Next:

Thanks this week for financial support from Robert W Gruska, Glendale
NY, who sent a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702
[also for checks on a US bank], ``toward your work and presentation of
World of Radio and the DX-Loggings each week for over four decades.
Thanks for your continued efforts keeping the radio hobbyist community
informed of the latest developments whether it is Shortwave, Medium
Wave or FM``

One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds via PayPal to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5935, Aug 30 at 0632, WWCR-2 in S9+30 of dead air except for
blips of mod trying to break thru about once per second, then nothing
at all; during the so-called `University Network` of deceased Gene
Scott and heiress Pastor Melissa Scott. Nohuman paying attn at 1300
WWCR Ave where something`s nogood in Nashville (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7300.146V, Aug 30 at 0635, the gospel huxter in
Amerenglish of Aug 28 is back altho no sign of him Aug 29, S4 vs storm
noise peaking S7. Kept varying upwards slightly as trying to measure
it. Dozed off and gone again by next check 0729 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9883 USB, Aug 30 2330-2340*, US military crypto
broadcast on an unexpected frequency, usually in aero bands. Weak but
clearly enunciated fonetix, copied most but missed occasional letter
in fades: ``ES6K DZQJDBQFF#DUKB PJ3INJ#F7 DKS6KFDZQKDNQ# 4KBC 24
characters, more to follow stand by PJHOWL repeated with standbys, 24
characters. PJHOWLYIYP7ICTEJXL8QKQOC7JN8ZW stand by This is 6JJ more
to follow stand by PJ55UX ---- 30 characters to follow ... This is 6JJ
out`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
