** BRAZIL. 9665.36, July 31 at 2354, RVM definitely now on the plus side direct, about 9665.35; while Brasil SDR a few minutes later shows 9665.37 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 15034 USB, July 31 at 1522, no signal from CHR, Trenton Military; nor at 1635-1655 as I am running Maryland SDR. Come to think of it, have not run across it lately. Perhaps the Time Lords have banned it until they fix their clox. Still no signs of it at many random chex later, direct and via Maryland. Altho propagation has been degraded. Also check for night frequency 6754 USB. And/or compare to Gander VOLMET on USB: 3485, 6604, 10051, 13270 at :20, :50. 13270 OK into Maryland before 1900 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 21490, July 31 at 2339, JBA carrier with flutter is the only signal on band - OSOB. Re my July 30 logging of RRI English at 2200 on four frequencies, one of them dead air: https://www.rri.ro/en_gb/two_transmitters_discontinued-2687864 ``Two transmitters discontinued 2023-07-31 13:39:00 România Internaţional Two out of the five transmitters broadcasting RRI's programmes are temporarily suspended as of 1 August The Tiganesti transmitter centre [illustration] Dear friends, the Radio Romania Board of Administrators decided to temporarily suspend the use of 2 out of the 5 Radiocom shortwave transmitters that ensure the broadcast of Radio Romania International programmes, because of budget cuts. As of August 1, our programmes are aired via one transmitter in Ţigăneşti, one in Săftica (both of them near Bucharest) and one in Galbeni (east). As soon as the budget of the institution is restored, we will resume broadcasts on all 5 transmitters. The RRI programmes in Romanian, English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Hebrew are affected. All of them may be received on only one frequency instead of 2, as of August 1, 2023. The frequencies as well as any other prospective changes operated by Radiocom further to reception monitoring and to your feedback on reception quality will be announced in our broadcasts, on our web page and on Facebook. Budget restrictions also prompted a reduction of the night time power of medium wave transmitters that broadcast Radio Romania News and Current Affairs programmes and of some regional stations. We invite you to follow RRI's programmes online at www.rri.ro (including on demand), on SoundCloud, on Android and iOS apps, via TuneIn and via satellite. You can find more details on our home page. You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Spotify.`` Richard Langley replies: ``This message was included verbatim during the half-hour English broadcast today (31 July) starting nominally at 20:30 UTC although there was a minute or so delay for the start today at least for the DRM transmission on 11975 kHz. Remains to be seen if the DRM broadcasts will be axed as of tomorrow.`` July 31 at 2217, `The History Show` is already 50% - only 11800 & 9790 on air, cut 11650 & 9740. Was all AM, no DRM this hour. Updates from George McClintock July 31, notes from a phone call: KVOH: transmitters have already been scrapped. George would like to have been able to get some parts. Not clear about antennas yet. Their LPFM is still running, but depends on lease for site continuing. Apparently are looking for a new SW site in the area, rather than moving into the WTWW site. WTWW: still has not returned to the air at all. He is ``tearing apart`` the #1 transmitter to get it fixed and operational. Owners must come up with minimum $ 1800/month electric bill whether used or not. House on site is in VG condition, liveable. A church is considering buying the property, wanting 9 acres but is only 7.1. Realtor thinks it`s worth more than $ 600K. Original cost for WTWW to buy it was #275K, underpriced. Later I search on RADIO BINGO 88.1 and discover that this is mainly a Canadian thing. CJWE in Alberta is part of a province-wide network of RB, but dates of games do not include this one. Another one is CFRH in Ontario, claiming it`s bilingual bingo, but obviously French is primary. I heard no hint of anything Canadian, certainly not francophone. Furthermore, it`s not resuming until September. Another2 one is in Perth ON, Lake 88.1 = CHLK-FM. But it`s Tuesdays at 6:10 pm. Further down the search results are too many other stations, some of which may have only bingoed years ago, or not really on 88.1: WYPR, KDHX, WWER, CKBW, KJCB, KBTL, KDNK, CHEC, CKBI, CJEC. Not really worth deep searches into all of those for a bingo show right now. Does anyone know of a station, even in America, that calls bingo on a Sunday night? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED.
