Hauser
** CUBA. 15230, July 11 at 2219, RHC is JBA, can`t tell language;
while 15140 is S5/9 in Spanish, well after it`s supposed to close.
Somethings` always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9899.961, July 11 at 2248, extremely distorted talk at
S9+25/40 into UTwente; intonation and occasional words sound
Portuguese as scheduled from R. Cairo at 2215-2330. Something`s always
egregious in Egypt. EiBi shows both CNR1 and RTI also on 9900 at
2200-2400 but not a trace of either vs this monstrosity. Cairo
scheduled to follow with Arabic on 9885 at 2330-0045, Spanish on 9860
at 0045-0200, all for S America. Why do they bother? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6869.91 AM, July 11 at 0640, for a change this late,
not even a JBA carrier from unID pirate. But it had been on 6869.937
earlier until 0614* per

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, July 11 at 2159 into UTwente, I may have seen a
carrier blip before it went off again, VOT never to return English
past 2230. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2198 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday July 11 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+5/20 into Missouri SDR.
Next:

2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW

Thanks this week to John, N9JL: ``Hello Glenn, I routinely listen to
your weekly podcasts, and really enjoy them. You consistently provide
your listeners with a broad cross-section of SW and BC band related
information. In only 30 minutes I know the stations I should be tuning
for over the following several days. Please accept this small
contribution in support of your on-going efforts. 73, John, N9JL,
Lutz, EN51vm, Shorewood IL`` -- with a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box
1684, Enid OK 73702

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7730, July 11 at 0638, WRMI-2 is reactivated, back to usual
poor signal, S8/9 in HSNL with children singing, // slightly weaker
WRMI-9, 15770 S6/S9. I last logged 7730 on June 3 and first noted it
missing June 12. Since then, no trace of it in nightly bandscans.
Much, but not all of the time, 7730 is // 15770, as at 0630 daily,
Slovakia in Spanish.

Next check July 11 at 1610: 7730 S6/S8 into Boca Ratón FL SDR in
German and classical music, sked as SMTV. 15770 in Spanish music, then
also German talk, RAE relay scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Larry Will explains the dead air from 6160-, WBCQ Area 51
during WOR time July 10 at 0300: ``Hi Glenn, A thunderstorm on Sunday
afternoon snapped a large pine tree about two blocks north of our
house and crushed the power and cable lines during a thunderstorm on
Sunday afternoon. Power and internet resumed at 7:30 pm local time and
I was able to get Area 51 back online a few minutes later. All seemed
fine until about 10:00 pm [02 UT], when the cable cut suddenly,
dropping us off the internet. I discovered technicians repairing a
cable connection on the same pole at that time. Our broadband wasn't
restored until sometime after midnight and we've been online since
then. Sorry about the Area 51 dead air; if I would have known about
the latter outage I would have made plans to source the programming
from a backup site. Cheers, Lw`` Tnx, Larry, sorry you had to go thru
that and tnx for trying (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Replies to some of my FM DX logs July 9:

[Re 91.5 WXXO Rochester NY:] ``Hi Glenn, WXXI on ch 21 preceded other
FM and AM outlets. So yes it refers the original analogue channel.
WXXI-FM calls recently moved to the new operation on 105.9, and 91.5
is now WXXO, which Scott Fybush tells me is of little consequence
because it generally IDs as "Classic FM." 105.9 used to be WJZR with
R&B and light jazz, but the owner retired and WXXI was able to buy it.
WXXI has double the power on 105.9 now. WXXI-AM on 1370 had been the
news operation, but it's coverage sucked at night, probably because
its pattern is N/S and in the years that followed the original license
and antenna pattern Rochester expanded east and west, but the original
pattern protects WFEA and WSPD, so where I live 25 miles west of
Rochester it was poor at night. The new FM solves that coverage issue
now for news junkies like me who gag on anything further to the right
(like WHAM). When I heard that WJZR was closing I fully expected
another K-LOVE or EWTN to grab it, but very thankfully I was wrong. I
suspect that WXXI-1370 will be shed in the not too distant future. It
would be cool if that channel could be turned into a programming
source for minority-oriented NPR programs, but will probably go
religious. I hope not.

I often catch CBL-FM 94.1 with classical, though it also has public
affairs, sometimes eclectic music at night. So the Variety format
actually fits.

[Re 93.3 WWSE Jamestown NY:] Yes on 93.3 Jamestown carrying Erie
ads.

[Re 96.5 WCMF Rochester NY `at 1817, ad for Gallisaunam?? something
like, Institute`:] That mystery word is (Tom) Golisano, founder of
Paychex, a payroll company, whose philanthropy seems mostly designed
to put his name on things, like hospitals, stadiums and colleges. He
tried to be Governor and has owned sports teams. Though he made his
fortune in New York, of course "no thanks to NY", and I think he's
moved to Florida to avoid taxes. Reminds me of someone else, though
Golisano is less odious. So there you go! Jim Renfrew, Clarendon NY``
Tnx for the interesting background, Jim! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. RF 14, 17, 22, 31, 36, July 11 at 1540 UT, BAD DTV
signals during lots of tropo around Enid, mapping especially into
Kansas, but no decodes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2315 UT July 11
