Glenn Hauser logs July 7-8, 2023

Logs
** CANADA. 7555-7585 approx., wideband DRM-like noise field, July 7 at
0622, presumed CGA984, HF trading station licenced to 7570 from Essex
County, Ontario. Lucky for them, WRMI is no longer on 7570 overnight.
See my previous reports of April 19 & 29 for much more about this
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6869.9 AM, S9/+10, July 7 at 0624, pirate from last
night is on again late, bells and chirps right now, quite diverse
music/SFX noises. Never heard any announcements past 0701 but I may
have dozed. A few more reports as unID on July 6; and 7 when it was on
6869.93 until 0726*:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Noticed this mixup in the WTFDA FM DB. The listing for
90.1 KUCO says it is a relay OF: KCSC-FM 95.9!
KUCO relay of:KCSC-FM 95.9 90.1 EDMOND OK USA HD CLASSICAL CLASSICAL
RADIO 90.1/91.9 100.0 100.0 256.0 256.0 35-34-24 97-29-08 4512
LISTENER SUPPORTED CLASSICAL MUSIC FROM UNIV OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA //
KBCW-FM 91.9 & KCSC 95.9

On the contrary, all programming originates at KUCO, fed to its two
satellites KCSC 95.9 in Woodward and KBCW 91.9 in McAlester. Perhaps
confused because the original call of 90.1 was KCSC - for Central
State College, not to be confused with something in Chico, California.
Some years after the school was renamed University of Central
Oklahoma, the 90.1 calls were changed in accordance. By then had also
acquired the relay facility on 95.9 in Woodward from KCCU Lawton, so
as a legacy, KUCO applied the KCSC calls to that. Standard legal IDs
used to add HD1 to 90.1 and 91.9 but not to 95.9; now dispensed with
that. IIRC, HDs of 90.1 include some totally unrelated gospel huxter
renter and/or a student station? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. July 7 at 1733 UT, tropo up away from Enid toward Tulsa,
OKC, providing BAD RF DTV signals on: 11, 14, 17, 28, 31, 34, 35, 36.
17 is notable since a DX signal must be baddenizing Enid`s only local
TV signal, K17JN-D, no loss since it spews 7 subchannels of
gospelhuxtering (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Friday July 7 at 2200, token English from SNR: news
about the bull-run at Pamplona festival until July 15: so far only
three Americans have been trampled, not by bulls but humans. 2207
feature which is a repeat about exhibition of art by Lucian Freud; so,
never mind. VG direct and the other three frequencies audible to
detectable (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.008 into Maryland SDR S9+5/20, July 7 at 2157, VOT
already on with IS: seemed some QRM but nothing else scheduled just
before 2200 here unlike on ex-5960 in B22 an hour later. Recheck at
2251, multi-lingual ID filler reel, 2252 canned jumbled s/off and
briefly IS to 2255.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2198 monitoring: confirmed Friday
July 7 at 1430 the first SWBC on WRMI 9955 --- but it`s just barely
modulated! both direct and via Maryland remote. This transmitter has
had reduced modulation before but now it`s almost gone. Webcast level
seems OK. Emailed WRMI ASAP at 1445 but nothing was or could be done
about this before 1459. Following music fill also JBM. Webcast
continued with DW via WRN. Something`s odd at Okeechobee. See if it be
fixed when System B WRMI-3, 9955 resume at 2100? Not checked until
2330 when it also seems u/mod but also facing jamming and some other
noise, local? into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed Friday July 7 at 2053 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM
Italia, 1323 kHz only, no 918 or 207 into nearby Noale SDR, S9+10/15
above the understation presumably Smooth Radio, Brighton. Next:

1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM
2230 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW

Thanks this week to John, N9JL: ``Hello Glenn, I routinely listen to
your weekly podcasts, and really enjoy them. You consistently provide
your listeners with a broad cross-section of SW and BC band related
information. In only 30 minutes I know the stations I should be tuning
for over the following several days. Please accept this small
contribution in support of your on-going efforts. 73, John, N9JL,
Lutz, EN51vm, Shorewood IL`` -- with a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box
1684, Enid OK 73702

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7490-), UT Sat July 8 at 0000, WBCQ stream of `AAAWWW`:
first half hour musing about cosmology; finally 0028 datestamp at 7
July YOOLF 2023, so it is live. Angela on remote phoneline so lofi
it`s hard to understand her. 0035 he starts referring to some stuff in
trade press, like ranking of markets with greatest proportion of
listeners to AM radio. #1 is Buffalo NY; but Florida nowhere on the
list. About 0030 I check the quadricast frequencies into Maryland SDR:
7490 - 70 Hz = 7489.930; 6160 -67 = 6159.933; 5130 -25 = 5129.975;
3265 + 106 = 3265.106. 0057 reading email. Wraps up about a minute
over, why always? So JIP Hal Turner late, not that I care. Starts by
siding with Russia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Possibility of Es so caradio bandscan July 7 at 2024 UT:
finds none, but notice that semi-local 91.5 is in deadair, still so
past 2044. Standard remark: if a station be so out of it that it does
not even have one staff member or another constantly monitoring for
dead air or any other problem, even if automated, and/or a
silence-sensor alarm, how can they expect any listeners to stick with
them, and more importantly, why should they deserve continued
licensing, especially if there be any other/better demand for the
frequency? WTFDA FMDB shows:

KSNS 91.5 MEDICINE LODGE KS CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN KEEP SINGING NEW
SONGS" 0.0 96.0 0.0 141.0 37-14-02 98-39-55 A4EC KSNS --- or ``Keep
Sending No Sound``! Anyhow there is a lot of spoken gospel-huxtering,
not just music when they manage to modulate. It`s just over the OK/KS
frontier. This one is also unusual in that it`s full power and
vertically polarized only, as the 0.0 means kW ERP-H and the 96.0
means kW ERP-V. Maybe that`s why I hear it better on the caradio.
However there is another 91.5 in KS likewise, KARF Independence (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
