** CUBA. 12120, March 21 at 0646, RHC Spanish, hefty S9+10, enough to shoulder aside the heavy RTTY infesting nearby. Of course, it`s 2 x 6060. But undermodulated and with CODAR QRM. I`ve often hunted for this without any success, so now wonder if more than accidental emission. Normally the most likely 2x from Cuba is 12000. Also possible: 12200 & 12330 worth checking when the 6100 & 6165 fundamentals be on, or should be on. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** EAST TURKISTAN. 5960, March 21 at 0000, XJPBS joining CNR1 for morning national anthem, but at 0002 also a clip of the Soviet Hymn, a bit jarring, but that`s just covering Xi`s visit to Putin; via UTwente, continued from TURKEY log. Standard denunciation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 11800.085V, March 21 at 0650, weak S6/S9 signal way off-frequency, i.e. DW in Hausa, at 0630-0700 via Issoudun: a site emitting many imprecise frequencies, and this one is also varying slightly as I try to measure it. These stick out in my bandscans at 1-kHz intervals in USB, producing a rumble or some pitch other than 1000 Hz when tuned 1 kHz below nominals (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 12050-12055-12060 DRM, Tue March 21 at 1540, surprised to find DRM noise here, and also no AM signal on 12050, the last remaining frequency of WEWN. Wonder if this be no coincidence, WEWN cooperating with the DRM or possibly even emitting it? By the time I check remotes in various parts of USA with DRM capability, nothing by 1552. Only then do I check the listings: none such in HFCC B22. But EiBi & Aoki both show KTWR in DEM on 12055 in English at 1245-1300 & 1515-1545, both Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 15530.042, March 21 at 1533, hymn S7/S9: KSDA at 1530-1600 in English or Tibetan per day of week. Unusual to find this one skewed so far (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, March 21 at 0706, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati, only 9/kHz split in MW bandscan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17460, March 21 at 1537, two signals beating, S8/S9. Seems the Recep Turkish jammer and Dengê Welat are sticking here rather than 17470 or 17480. Site for D.W. unclear; latest EiBi shows UZBEKISTAN for all three, which makes sense propagationally, but not frequencially since it`s no longer minus ~250 Hz or so; Aoki misses them completely. Besides too-close Armenia, also possible per wolfie: Bulgaria, Tajikistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MONGOLIA. Re last report under UZBEKISTAN, aside about VOM frequencies, a correxion from Ron Howard about the 09-11 UT broadcast: ``Thanks very much to Glenn, for noticing my strange posting. I had the wrong frequency for the Voice of Mongolia. I definitely heard them on 12084.87, NOT 12014.87. Very sorry for my mistake!`` - so the listed schedule is correct -- except for being way off-frequency in both cases. I wish everyone were so diligent in issuing correxions (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, March 20 at *2255 on, VOR covering BBCWS OMAN with IS & English IDs. By 2311 and for rest of hour, heavy pumping fast fading SAH, presumably caused by XJPBS now also upon slightly different frequency - but see below. Via UTwente displaying 5959.999+, quite unusual to swerve to the minus side. 2316 ending `Review of the Turkish Press`; 2319 salute to search & rescue teams from abroad. I`m checking in & out: 2331 outro `Feeling Supreme/The Healing Supring`; 2332 with-you-every-hour promo, song; 2337 always-by-your-side promo; ``La Bamba`` theme to `New Day, New Choices` about the art form of dioramas; 2343 always-with-you promo, music; 2347 a-b-y-s promo; 2348 `Did You Know That` about an Istanbul top restaurant whose chef comes from Finland, Sweden, USA; 2351 a-b-y-s promo again; 2352 s/off; 2354 IS to 2355* uncovering XJPBS: but even after reloading also displays as 5959.999+ so that does not explain the SAH. By last check 0028, however, that has drifted up to 5960.001 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565 CW, March 20 at 0601, HIFER beacon with continuous K6FRC IDs from Patterson CA; vs CODAR. Must be very first time I`ve heard it outside the usual post-sunrise window around 14/16 UT, suspecting it`s not 24h. It was stronger then than JBA at 1504 vs CODAR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) [My original report was lacking the ID!] ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2182 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday March 21 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+20 into Maryland SDR, after Jeff`s ``Turmoil`` auto-interjexion. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, March 21 at 0100, WTWW-2 is still missing, as George McClintock updates me: altho he can operate it remotely, he has been recovering from a virus or something for the past two weeks, quite ill at home - and also a week without power following the windstorm; still trees across the street. Meanwhile the station still needs a *lot* of work; I suspected he was axually somewhat enjoying the troubleshooting, repairing challenges, when he can get to the site. Says an insulator broke at the end of an antenna wire, called a Steotype, or something like that. #2 transmitter runs at 70 kW, but Ted left with the harmonic filter not working [tho I never heard any second harmonix from it]. Parts to bring the #1 up from 70 to a minimum of 90 kW were ordered and supposed to be shipped from China three weeks ago; follow-up found they were not shipped until last week, so wait another week. Hoping that a sale will go thru but not firm yet. Buyer will gain among everything else, at least twelve high power tubes. Each transmitter needs only one, but Ted had been running the filaments 24 hours, wearing them down, all of them only partly depleted. Come to think of it, everything was done wrong. George is at least making sure by remote control that the filaments are off when not transmitting. #1 and #3 are in pieces. #3 driver tube is no good. A fan was cooling a balun, but fan`s power was not wired in. A frequency coil was missing, so had to recalibrate. Currently concerned with fixing the automatic gate to the property (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, March 21 at 0715, S4/S6 carrier from R. Vanuatu, seems dead air as often reported now after cyclone damage. At 0612, Gary Pence was hearing carrier, no modulation into Oahu SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7720 & 7680, March 21 at 1529, JBA talk, seem to be real as still there with preamps off, do not compute as strong signals mixing with my two local MW signals on 960 & 1390, nor of course as harmonix. Nothing listed on either in EiBi & Aoki. Possibly remnant of ChiCom jamming against new SOHs? 7665, March 21 at 1530, OTOH is jamming vs RFA Tajikistan. Also JBA carriers this late on 7390 NZ remnant [which in a few days for A23 changes to 7440]; 7365 & 7300, China and/or jammers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED [non]. Now that we are equinoxial, chances for nightmiddle propagation on higher bands increase: March 21 at 0643, I detect two JBA carriers on 16m: 17640 listed as BBC English via ASCENSION; and weaker 17730, SAUDI ARABIA in Arabic, the OSOBs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1957 UT March 21 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
