** ALGERIA. 17600, Feb 2 at 1627, RTA in Arabic, S6/S9 with unusual short/long path echo. Direct short path at ground level is 8441 km. Earth`s equatorial circumference is 40,075 km, so long path would be 31,634 km. Difference between LP and SP = 23,193 km. Speed of radio, 299,792 km/sec. Therefore the delay is: 0.07735 second, or about 1/14 of one second which would be 0.07143. All these figures slightly more, bouncing up and down from the ionosphere (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 224 MCW kHz, Feb 2 at 0800 UT, dash and DN, a new beacon for me and a VG one! Only 25 watts and listed as decommissioned at dxinfocentre.com, from Dauphin, Manitoba, which is 1650 km away = 1025 miles at 41 miles per watt, if the path were along the ground, slightly more via ionosphere. 233 MCW kHz, Feb 2 at 0800 UT, dash and BR, which is 200 watts at Brandon, Manitoba; last heard Feb 10, 2021 at 0706. 250 MCW kHz, Feb 2 at 0759 UT, dash and FO, 1600 watts at Flin Flon, Manitoba. I seldom hear anybeacons below 248 WG Winnipeg, let alone any superpower Euro LWBC; I suspect my R75 and E/W longwire are losing sensitivity that low. Habitually to avoid MW overload images, I DX longwave above 350 with both preamps off, below 350 with only Preamp 1. But this time I`m on Preamp 2 but with separate ATTenuation engaged, which may make the difference (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, R. Kiribati: since had not detected it lately after 07 UT direct as JBA carrier, wondering if off the air; so checking Maui remote SDR, Feb 2 at 0526 an hour after local sunset, not even a trace on the waterfall; while 850 is a JBV trace from Hilo: o, that`s because this SDR is on a 75 meter Beverage [sic] aimed north! So over to the Kaneohe, Oahu SDR which has a 220 foot N/S non-terminated Beverage, and there it is on 846, equal to 850 KHLO JBA. Later tonight Feb 2 at 0746 UT I again try 846 direct and it`s JJBBA there; while 1098 is much stronger: could that be V7AB, Marshall Islands? Late but could also be Spain, as 855-2 and 1044 JBA carriers likely are (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2175 monitoring: ``Hi Glenn, I wasn't online today so this my first chance to report in. I DID listen last night [Wed Feb 1] during the 1000 UT hour, and they did NOT have WOR [at 1030 on WRMI 5850]. I stayed with it to see if the program popped up later on, but went ZZZ myself by 1130 this time around.
