Glenn Hauser logs January 25-26, 2023
Thursday, January 26 2023

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Jan 25 after 1600, no LRA36 signal
into Argentine SDR; nor any expected on Wed so not up to check at
1500. However, it seems they are going to continue on Saturdays only:

``[WOR] Antarctica. Special broadcast of 15476 LRA 36 announced for
next Jan 28 --- Adrián Korol, RAE, as I read it in Facebook, says that
LRA 36 next broadcast will take place on coming Saturday 28, at 12 LU,
1500 UT and then, rebroadcast at 16 LU, 1900 UT on 15476 khz USB.

Okay, I learned that it's happening to be difficult to put the signal
into Europe and North America, as they are only 500 W power, despite
the higher level of solar activity; but then, they there are. 73 de
Horacio Nigro, Uruguay, CX3BZ, Jan 24``

Manuel Méndez, Spain: ``Another WhatsApp received right now,
clarification of the previous one from the station:

"Este programa es solamente especial de verano, se emite los sábados a
las 12 horas de Argentina, con repetición a las 16 horas. En marzo
comenzaremos a emitir los primeros programas de la temporada anterior
[sic] y ahí sí que ya habrá programa los miércoles".

"This program is only a summer special, it is broadcast on Saturdays
at 1200 Argentinian time, with repetition at 1600. In March we will
begin to transmit the first programs of the previous [sic] season and
there will be program on Wednesdays."``

Sic: Previous/anterior? Old repeats? And are the interim Sat
broadcasts each new or repeats of Jan 21?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 15775, Jan 25 at 0218, JBA carrier but slightly stronger
than 15770 WRMI: listed in Aoki & EiBi is CNR1 jamming and Sound of
Hope long hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13740, Jan 25 at 0220, RHC English is here, S9/+10! Instead
of 6165, and // 6000 which is S9+10/20. Also 2 x 6000 on 12000, JBA S9
at 0225. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11850, Jan 25 at 0224, RHC Spanish, S9+20 and as usual
suptorted, unlistenable, and as usual with JBA spur carriers on 11840
& 11860. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, Jan 25 at 0727, JBA carrier from R.
Kiribati; also one other detected on 855, most likely RNE Spain (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 255 MCW kHz, Jan 25 at 0738 UT, SW, NDB at StillWater is
off; otherwise until yesterday audible day and night. And it is
audible at 1910 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 90.1, KUCO-FM Edmond/OKC, has revamped its
schedule once again. Now on manager`s corner of website as of Jan 24:

``Presenting Evening Classics with Curt Timmons

Classical KUCO is excited to announce Evening Classics with Curt
Timmons, a two-hour, locally produced program presenting extended
selections from 10 p.m. to midnight each weeknight beginning Monday,
Jan. 23. In addition to his noon to 3 p.m. weekday hosting, our very
own Curt Timmons is graciously paving the way to offer beautiful,
complete pieces of music in a thematic and thoughtful presentation
blended with insightful commentary.

“I am excited to produce Evening Classics for our late-evening
listeners. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy favorite
masterworks and play some more unusual offerings from our KUCO library
and my personal collection,” Timmons said.

KUCO’s presentation of well-known orchestras will begin at 7 p.m., New
York Symphony Mondays; Chicago Symphony Tuesdays; The WFMT Orchestra
Series Wednesdays; Performance Oklahoma with Kimberly Powell
Thursdays; and, American Public Media’s SymphonyCast Fridays.

Performance Oklahoma, with Kimberly Powell, has moved Wednesday
evenings to Thursdays providing listeners, and even performers, who
attend church and choir the ability to enjoy the beautiful, local
performances numerous individuals work so hard to make happen.
Performance Oklahoma continues to encore at 8 a.m., Saturdays.

Following the orchestral programs at 9 p.m., will be The Sound of 13
Mondays; Gameplay Tuesdays; With Heart and Voice Wednesdays; Feminine
Fusion Thursdays; and, Hearts of Space Fridays.

According to Timmons, “Evening Classics will feature historic and
rarely heard recorded performances, which is a passion of mine as a
recording collector and musician. I hope our listeners will find some
old, as well as new favorites.”

Evening Classics with Curt Timmons aligns with the Classical KUCO
mission to present locally produced, long-format music to our
listening members as we strive to advance the appreciation of
classical music as Oklahoma’s Voice for the Performing Arts.

Classical KUCO is community-supported outreach of the University of
Central Oklahoma and can be heard on 90.1FM/HD1 throughout central
Oklahoma, 91.9FM/HD1 in McAlester, 95.9FM in Woodward and streamed on
kucofm.com, iHeart, Amazon Alexa devices, Bose’s SoundTouch network,
and mobile devices with the free Classical KUCO app at GooglePlay and
the Apple App Store.``

Skedgrid has been updated as above, all times CST = UT -6:
https://www.kucofm.com/programs/program-schedule-grid/

Still unaccounted for are `module` programs, notably StarDate, so I
ask GM Jeff Hagy: he says it`s straight-up noon M-F; and a brand-new
website is about ready to launch next week: http://www.kucofm.com

Meanwhile I have been seeking StarDate elsewhere:
Features On Texarkana Public Radio: own website claims:
Stardate - Daily 11:04 A.M. & 7:00 P.M.
http://ktxkweb.texarkanacollege.edu:8000/listen.pls
but FAILS to appear at or around 7 pm = 0100 UT Jan 24. Then, Manager
thanked me for noticing and restored it UT Jan 25 (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** ROMANIA. 7410 // 5990, UT Wed Jan 25 at 0237-0248, both S9+20 with
Romanian folk music, French announcements, matching Alan Roe`s Music
on SW schedule, ``Musique traditionnelle roumaine`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Jan 25 at 2306, token English from REE after COVID
stats on news, into part 2 of last week`s feature on `El camino del
Anillo``, Tolkien stuff not interesting me; over to simulTurkey. But
first quick check of //s: 9690 S9+10/25 into Maryland SDR > 12030 >
11940 all usable, and still NO 11670 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.001+, Jan 25 at 2308, VOT English S9+25/35
into UTwente, final news item about excavations at Luxor, Egypt; 2309
`Review of the Turkish Press`` a few brief headlines starting with:
Erdogan blasts Netherlands for disrespecting a Qur`an book. [Why does
he blame entire NATO allies or applicants for axions of some isolated
radicals in free societies? I hereby permit Turx to burn as many
Bibles as they may wish: there are plenty more -gh]. 2310 the CCCCCCI
starts underneath from XJPBS, East Turkistan, land of imperialist
ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems: does Erdogan care
about that?

2311 multi-lingual ID filler reel including some langs not for VOT on
SW in WRTH 2022: Albanian, Japanese, Portuguese; no doubt there are
more. 2313 `Gripping[?] Files` something about digital security
involving Meta/FB/Habitat NGO; CCCCCCI is at worse N/S ratio now. 2317
songs. 2324 `Weekly Commentary`, same one heard before about
``Turkey`s role in Western security considerations - why Turkey is
indispensable``. 2331 music. 2337 `Feeling Supreme` a.k.a. `Healing
Spring` on herbal remedies for constipation in children. 2346 recheck
already in music again. 2353 s/off with English skeds in jumbled
order. 2355 IS; 2356 cut off uncovering XJPBS, S8/9+5 on 5960.000+
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 395 MCW kHz, Jan 25 at 0735 UT, CA, 25-watt ND beacon at
Newton / Harvs KS; and:

407 MCW kHz, Jan 25 at 0735 UT, HRU, 25-watt NDB at Herington KS: both
JBA but first time in months I have been able to relog these
semi-locals, as the local noise peak around 395 has diminished altho
slightly more than otherwise. Maybe due to snowcover? And maybe only
temporary; or neighbors going and coming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2174 monitoring. Did anyone hear it Wed Jan
25 at 1030 on WRMI 5850? Deleted from sked but another report of it
still on a week ago:

``5850 UNITED STATES WRMI at 1030. World of Radio broadcast, armchair
on Sangean and indoor wire -- Excellent Jan. 18 Rick Barton-AZ``

Confirmed Wednesday January 25 at 2200+ on WBCQ 7490 minus 63 Hz into
Missouri SDR = 7489.937, S9/+15. next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

in US funds but not necessarily.

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid, OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7495-7545 approx., Jan 25 at 0234, noise field extending out
+/- 25 kHz from 7520, so I am tempted to blame it on the WWCR-4
transmitter with overpowering signal, S9+40/50 of TOMBS, which is
perhaps partly to blame for dirty satellite audio feed out of
Walterboro during Scourby Bibling. There are also various audio
artefacts within 10 kHz of 7520 which is typical of TOMBS, despite the
rather lo-fi audio if tuned to center frequency and avoiding the
extended sidebands. WWCR et al. ought to filter out that feed! #4 is
on 90-degree rhombic, but I bet it put as much signal off the back
thisaway. Need to have a look at a waterfall in the blast zone between
00 and 03 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9338, Jan 25 at 0749, very rapid RTTY not noticed before,
too close to hugesig from 9330v WBCQ, not enough to bother WBCQ but
vice versa? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. At first: UNIDENTIFIED. 12050, Jan 25 at 0226, S9/+10 with
flutter, JBA can`t make out language. Nothing supposed to be on now;
could it be WEWN extending its daytime-only Spanish service past 2400
here, since 5970 night frequency has been off for months, inoperable?
CNR1 jammer shown at very different times in EiBi. Indeed, next
evening UT Jan 26 at 0015, strong gospel huxter in Spanish still going
on 12050. Own website is no help: still showing outdated A22 skeds
with CDT/UTC, as if 24 hpd in Spanish, 18 hpd in English, long gone:
https://www.ewtn.com/radio/frequency-guide
Not even the Spanish sexion has any details about SW:
https://www.ewtn.com/es/radio
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1700 kHz, Jan 25 at 0346 UT, dead air atop 2 or 3 other
signals. Bet I know which it is, but DF it on the DX-398: yes,
slightly CCW from N/S, i.e. toward The Metroplex, KKLF Richardson TX.
#2 on 1700 is KBGG Des Moines IA, with the others in AL, FL, NY and
RGV TX maybe audible but blocked. The Jalapeño is silent. 0726
recheck: TexMexmx resumed, Jalapeño ID in passing (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890 & 11835, Jan 25 at 0743, R. Vanuatu harmonix of 3945
are both JBA carriers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0025 UT January 26
