Hauser
** CHINA [non]. 11980, Jan 2 at 2319, CGTN/CRI in English
undermodulated S5/S9, = 2 x 5990 where much stronger. Something`s
always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Jan 2 at 2315, S9+30/40 of dead air except for hum.
11850 at 2317 is S9+20/25 and attains just barely modulation, with hum
and much weaker parasitic spurs 11840 & 11860 vs residual jamming.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also CHINA
[non]

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Jan 2 at 2117, R. Cairo enters another year of
abject failure, no signal today in English into UTwente. Something`s
always amiss at Abis (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6955 USB, Jan 2 at 2324, rock music, S9 vs S9+10
storm crashes; 2326 I copy one word, ``Whatever`` -- many logs of R.
Free W.e.:

6925 AM, Jan 2 at 2325, S9+15/20 of rock music vs storm crashes. A few
logs here as Classic Rock Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,107699.0.html
There are heavy lightning lines N/S along the KS/MO, OK/AR and TX/LA
borders as well as further east centred around Paducah. Fortunately
most of this wx missed our part of OK and is hurrying away (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Monday Jan 2 circa 2345 UT, KUCO-FM, local
classical programming seems to have resumed, partially, as planned.
Kent Anderson previews the evening in CST = UT -6: 6, Exploring Music,
7 Performance Today, 9 New York Philharmonic, 11 Wolf Trap. Homepage
now says:

``Happy New Year from KUCO --- Warm tidings, and welcome to 2023.

As KUCO continues to digitize it exceptional classical music library
(and it will for sometime to come) January returns our local, weekday
hosts Kimberly Powell, Curt Timmons, and Kent Anderson back to the air
waves playing the beautiful music so many enjoy. All of KUCO thanks
our listening members for their patience as we transitioned to a new
on-air system over these past few weeks that will assist us with our
library digitization. Your phone calls, emails, and kind words of
support on social media were appreciated.

Another transition soon to take place is the launch of the new KUCO FM
website. Preparations are underway to sync playlist information to the
new site (another facet of digitizing our music library) and
validating links and connections. Information shall be forthcoming.

KUCO is excited to present 'Performance Today' each weekday at 9am and
encored at 7pm. This nationally-recognized, Peabody Award-winning
classical music program, hosted by Fred Child, is the most listened-to
daily classical music radio program in the United States.

Performance Today is followed by Exploring Music at 11am and Curt
Timmons at Noon playing locally-programmed, long-format pieces for
your listening pleasure. Please reference the weekly music schedule to
know when your favorite program airs.

The 2023 resolution of KUCO is to continue playing more locally
programmed classical music to the communities we serve and be
Oklahoma's Voice for the Performing Arts. It is only possible with
members like you who support this endeavor. Happy New Year, and thank
you for your support.``

And the websked now updated:
https://www.kucofm.com/programs/program-schedule-grid/

So much for the 3-hour M-F jazz show at 9 pm from Kansas City? Another
short-lived strip of one-hour programs from elsewhere M-F at 10 am was
already gone. I am pleased to see that altho gone from Sunday
afternoons, two of my favorites are somewhere: `Wind & Rhythm` - band
music at 8 pm Sundays; and `Feminine Fusion`, at 11 pm Thursdays.
Other orchestra broadcasts are stripped M-F at 9 pm, including own
`Performance Oklahoma` now at that time on Thursdays, still repeated
Saturdays at 8 am. `Classical Through the Night` is now the title at
12-6 am 7 days, so back to NC`s WCPE? No, overnight is called
`Sleepers Awake`, with their only? Black announcer, Sherman Wallace:
https://theclassicalstation.org/about-us/meet-the-announcers/
No, at 0628 does not match WCPE stream and announcer is someone else.
Info about module programs such as StarDate still has not been updated
since 2017 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, KOSU, Jan 2 at 2001 UT, the NPR news ``hole`` is
really empty, 6+ minutes of dead air until 2007.7 JIP `The World` --
automation without any human oversight wins again (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Jan 2 at 2300, REE in token English makes S9+25
direct on meter, but too much storm crashing N/E of here. Feature
topic something about a play. Pass. 11940 & 12030 totally unusable
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 2 at 2300, VOT English seems to be on, but VP
direct with storm crashes, worse than Spain. Not convenient for me to
bring up remotes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2171 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday January
3 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, VG S9+25 into Missouri SDR. Tried Athens GA
first and got zilch! Jeff still tried to start his ``world is in
turmoil`` ad between ID and WOR. Next:

0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v OR 5130v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support
is appreciated. Thanks this week to John Spicer for a contribution via
PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com and
says: ``Thanks for keeping the hobby alive and your fine work on the
reports. Many thanks to the listeners that have contributed. Happy
Listening, John Spicer``

One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330.041+, Jan 2 at 2122, UTwente displays this WBCQ-6
frequency, not outstanding signal only S7/S9, WLCR in Spanish (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Jan 3 at 0354, have not paid much attention to WRNO
lately, but it`s S9+10/20 now with music Just Barely Modulated. The
incompetence of so many SW stations continues to amaze (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. I`m very sorry for the FB player who collapsed in a game,
but I can`t believe how at least MSNBC and CNN blew away most or all
of their other news programming for the next hours, starting before
0300 UT Jan 3, merely to speculate on his critical condition and
bewilder that the game was axually stopped. Surely there are countless
far more significant people who have suffered in some way during the
same time period without any notice by the media. I might add that
anyone who voluntarily engages in a violent ``sport`` is asking for it
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU [and non]. 7260: I notified Adrian Sainsbury, RNZ about the
QRMongolia as in my last report, and he promptly replied that he would
get on it pronto; apparently is a frequency advisor for R. Vanuatu
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1386, Jan 3 at 0354 UT earlier than usual complete 9/kHz
split bandscan for JBA carriers, such as Benin on 1566? Only one
audible is here, worst possible spot next to blasting 1390 local KCRC.
If not a coincidental spur out of that, what have we TAs in WRTH? O
yes, a neat catch would be 75 kW Radio Baltic Waves, Lithuania, which
relays Ukraine et al. Not much else: 50 kW in Kenya, 10 kW in Egypt,
1-watt LPAMs in UK, unknown power in Greece (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0640 UT January 3
