** CUBA. 11760, Sun Dec 18 at 1600, RHC announces continuing on 11760 and 15140 and FM; 1602 opening weekly Esperanto, also on much weaker 15140, claiming sked is Sun 0800 on 6100; 1600 on 11760-only; 2230 or 2330? on 15730. At the Esp`o service they haven`t a clue when and where they are really being transmitted: 0800 has been AWOL lately, used to appear on some 6 MHz channel not always 6100 but all of them off earlier today; 1600 has been on +15140 for years; third airing has been reported in B22 at 2130 on 13680 or somewhere. Also both announcers can`t break themselves of Spanish habits, misaccentuating Ameriko and politiko as ``Amériko`` and ``polítiko`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FINLAND [non]. eQSL, reply to my report to R. Strömsö, 3955 via Germany via UTwente SDR, indirectly into Oklahoma, Dec 17 at 1952-2000 UT: ``Thank you for your report! Radio Strömsö is a SDXL club programme relayed by Texas Radio Shortwave, and edited by DJs Tricky Trev and Heppu Hyypiö from Scandinavian Weekend Radio. Finnish DX Association (SDXL) is the largest Finnish DX club with history going back to year 1958. We publish a magazine Radiomaailma (Radio World) and we have a web site at http://www.sdxl.fi During the boom days in 1970s-1980s we had more than 2000 members in a country of 5 million. Today the club has almost 500 members. DX club radio programmes used to be a regular feature in 1950s, 1960s, when various stations around the globe did broadcast special broadcasts. This kind of activity was common especially in Sweden, but also Finnish clubs did organise such broadcasts from Spanish stations, Rome, Prague, HCJB, Tangier, even from Radio Australia. In 1960s the only English language show from Radio Finland was DX Mailbag, produced by Finlands DX Club. It was unexpected that broadcast was 19 UTC. We were told it should have been 18 UTC. This is puzzling because every day there is scheduled Radio DARC at 19 UTC. It would have been simplest thing to keep Radio DARC in usual slot and transmit Strömsö at 18 UTC but no, it was DARC that was switched to previous slot. Attached is your eQSL. We wish you a peaceful Yule and a happy New Year!
