Hauser
** CANADA. 346 MCW kHz, Nov 18 at 0744 UT, dash and YXL, 500-watt ND
beacon at Sioux Lookout ON, a regular but not always. I was tuned to
345 USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MADAGASCAR. 9765, Nov 18 at 2154, seeking any music, a rarity on SW
after giving up on VOA q.v. 11720 caught in a loop, I find some gospel
harmonies here from MWV with a choppy signal; 2156 Palavra Alegre ID
in hyper-Brazuguese; 2159 dead air; 2200 more of same starting with
singing, 2203 stuff about Jesus [zhe-ZOO-ish]. At 2157 had given
address in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, but the website
https://palavraalegre.com.br/ omits any city, just the box and postal
code! I guess that`s enough, but why? Yes, now has a double-hour to
Brasil. Next stop for music, WBCQ, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO [and non]. 740-, Nov 18 at 0755 UT, rumbling het on the low
side against KRMG/CFZM/whatever, presumed longtime offfrequencier
XEQN, Torreón, Coahuila. The major stations produce a SAH of 56/minute
= almost 1 Hz. What does MWoffsets show? Lax any entry for XEQN! I
should try to refine it at a better opportunity; used to be worst
around sunrise, powering up from 1 to 10 kW. Does show CFZM 0.1 Hz low
and KRMG 1.0 Hz high (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Nov 18 at 0723, RHC still on with dead air except for
hum, S8/9+10, and also weaker S8/S9 6100 with same hum. Is English now
supposed to repeat until 0800, or 0700? No other RHC frequencies on,
and Rebelde 5025 remains absent always. Something`s always wrong at
RHC, RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 5010, UT Friday Nov 18, into Maryland SDR, WRMI again
with secret R. República in Spanish, topic: derechos de trabajo, like
for 3 hours before. Would not be surprised if a single hour about this
be repeated over & over (Glenn Hauer, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Nov 18 at 0725, S7/S8 open carrier, presumably VON
with usual offset-minus; a bit late now but maybe on for a sesquihour
since 0555 or so tonight? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6969 USB, Nov 18 at 2229, my fourth stop for music
after WBCQ finds one pirate active now with rockish music, S5/S7;
2231.5 maybe an ID under the dense music? 2236 clearer announcement,
``You are listening to --- clock? Radio --- Radio 69 --- on the
dial``; more logs here first as unID,
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,105509.0.html
then ``Infected Mushroom Head Radio International`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Nov 18 at 2258-2259*, BBCWS English alone
via OMAN. No VOT IS, but cuts on circa *2300 but also with heavy SAH
from another open carrier. Usual sign on and news heavy on Erdogan
doings, but at 2303 CCCCCCI starts = Chinese Communist Chinese language
co-channel interference. This time it` strong enough to make listening
to TRT too distracting. 2330 I switch to Maryland remote after token
English from Spain is over, and thus VOT Turkish music is now
QRM-free, 2332 `Feeling Supreme` on alleged benefits of St. John`s
Wort. Later a `DYKT` segment I don`t try to understand. 2353 quick
s/off, ``you`ve been listening to the 1230-1330 UTC broadcast on 12035
kHz`` -- NO, We have not! Something`s always awry at Ankara. IS then
plays, past 2355 when GERMAN IDs start to be inserted --- but only
once, whew, before cutoff. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 420 MCW kHz, Nov 18 at 0742 UT, PK, 25-watt ND beacon at
Olathe/Herbb KS, just barely enough to the edge of the persistent high
local neighborhood noise level peaking at 390 but obscuring
everything between 360 and 420, including another Kansan, 395 CA.

347 MCW kHz, Nov 18 at 0743 UT, AFK, 25-watt NDB at Nebraska City NE
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 11720, Fri Nov 18 at 2149, VOA Grimesland VG S9+30 off the
back toward Africa; during B-seasons, dentro-Americans luck out with
an hour of mostly music on VOA from our domestic site rather than
15580 Botswana - should include `Music Time in Africa` on Fridays, but
instead, it`s a 39-second loop repeating over and over theme music of
orchestral variations on ``Yankee Doodle, V-O-A``. Still going 5
minutes later, and I bet for the rest of the hour after and before:
more messupping at VOA. Is no one paying attention at Grimesland, or
Washington? In the past the MTIA hostess seemed unaware of this
transmission. I was searching for some music -- any music -- on SW to
accompany my nap and override thru earphones a TV set nearby.
Continued at MADAGASCAR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2165 contents: Antarctica,
Bangladesh and non, Canada, China, Cuba [WTFK? 10080] and non, East
Turkistan, (Germany), (Indonesia), International Vacuum, Japan,
Kaliningrad, Korea South, Maldives non [WTFK? 11620], México, New
Zealand, North America, (Philippines), Russia, (São Tomé), Spain,
Sweden non, UK and non, USA; unidentified 6300; leap second and
standard time; propagation outlook; (countries mentioned out of order
along with others)

Confirmed first SWBC UT Friday November 18 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, JBA
carrier direct; VP into TX, LA SDRs closer to alleged SW azimuth, much
better into Maryland SDR way off the beam.

Also confirmed Friday November 18 at 1530 on WRMI 9955, S8/9+10
direct, no jamming audible.

Also confirmed Friday November 18 at 2130 on NEXUS-IBA IRRS SW via AM
Italia, Villa Estense, 1323 kHz, S9+5/18 into nearby Noale SDR with
hardly any QRM, following a country music show. Next:

** U S A. 5130 minus only 7 Hz = 5129.993, UT Friday Nov 18 at 0400,
good into Maryland SDR, WBCQ Radio Angela with première of a new
monthly hour, `Hobby Broadcasting Radio`, admittedly really about
pirates, with Andy Yoder, longtime pirate enthusiast. Says this will
be monthly on third Thursday at 11 pm ET/0400-0500 UT, so next one
will be Dec 15/16. News about this from UB came at very short notice,
but I do mention it on WOR 2165, only the first SW airing of which
happened to precede it immediately at 0330. After musing about how he
is going to do the show, most of this is phone conversation with
another pirate enthusiast, Brian Penney, columnist for NASWA Journal,
with lots of clips of recent Hallowe`en and archived piratecasts
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 9330+, Fri Nov 18 at 0731, WBCQ WLCR slightly
off+plus conveniently, coincidentally? in Spanish, at about equal
level to CUBAn Spy Numbers, including uteblaaps, making LAH = low
audible heterodyne. A longtime collision between these stubborn
stations, neither worth listening to, but some recipient spies maybe
get misled, overtaken, converted? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7490-, Fri Nov 18 at 2205, my third stop for some music
after Madagascar, q.v., is WBCQ during `Behaviour Night` of ancient
recordings. I don`t often hear this as timing is inconvenient. Now
reception direct is not so good, fading and noise on top of the
original lo-fi music; but it improves gradually to 2229 when I check
for pirates, see NORTH AMERICA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 630, Nov 18 at 0750 UT, classical piano music catches my ear
- but then it`s only an hymn, what a letdown. Likely KYFI St Louis,
tho there is another REL in San Antonio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 640, Nov 18 at 0752 UT, BIN and Black Information Network
often mentioned in news items about Michigan, Georgia, rather than the
usual dominators here, KFI and KWPN OK. Also binnews.com promos.
Mostly in ``standard`` English, not obvious ``Black`` accents. NRC AM
Log and https://www.binnews.com/stations/ agree their two 640s are for
Atlanta and Chicago. BIN site dispenses with callsigns and cities of
license. On the E/W longwire, so I should have DFed to tell which, or
stayed for ToH legal ID, but by then I`m occupied with 1130, q.v. WBIN
Atlanta is U4 50000/1000 watts; WMFN Pentone IL is U4 4400/1600 watts.
No echo so likely only one of them. WMFN has a sufficient lobe
thisaway,
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WMFN&service=AM&h=N
but major lobe is N toward Milwaukee and Lake Michigan. WBIN is almost
ND circular, slightly squished N/S oval:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WBIN&service=AM&h=N
HQ appears to be Southfield/Detroit MI, but r-l has an address in
Benton TN for WBIN, Ada MI for WMFN. BIN website displays no HQ
physical, postal address or location (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130, Nov 18 at 0759, rock music dominant I always assume be
cheating KLEY Wellington KS, supposed to run ONE WATT at night, so we
can`t call it a daytimer, likely really full power 250 watts. Hardly
anything from 50 kW KWKH which beams west from Shreveport. I keep
listening for a definite ID as music runs thru hourtop, till finally
at 0803 UT a quick canned multi-station ID with no frequencies,
including some FM translators, and KLEY Wellington, KKLE Winfield,
both Kansas and sibling stations but supposedly totally separate
programming from same studio. Both are in groundwave range, but I have
not heard KKLE 1550 in a long time, day or night; and not now either,
some other music on not // 1550 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890 & 11835, Nov 18 at 0721, no signals from the RV
harmonix (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-oceanic JBA split MW carrier search, Nov 18 at
0736: 1098-2, with a slow beat circa 1 Hz, again suspected one of them
V7AB MARSHALL ISLANDS, and/or Spain. What else? 1017, 711, 621, but no
846 Kiritimati. 711 & 621 correlate with Morocco & Canary close to
sunrise; 1017 I would like to be 10 kW A3Z, TONGA, already a
sesquihour after 0601 UT sunset; otherwise only two 10-kW Spaniards,
while bigger ones over there like 684 are not audible. BTW, it`s
pronounced Tong-a, not Tong-ga (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0010 UT November 19
