Glenn Hauser logs September 9-10-11, 2022
Sunday, September 11 2022

Logs
** CHINA. 13530, 13130, 13020, Sept 11 at 1457, JBA carriers, the
usual trio if any from CNR1 jammers against Sound of Hope (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA. 6017.012, Sept 11 at 0706, JBA music vs jamming bleed,
from 6030? Presumably the lately reported pirate, which was already
identified 5 months ago by Rafael Rodríguez R. as Organización Radial
el Prado, in Palermo, Magdalena (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6100 et al., Sunday Sept 11 at 0708, no signals from any RHC
on 6 or 5 MHz, when Esperanto is supposed to air. A hopeless
situation. The Sunday 1500 broadcast also must be missing, since at
1456 & 1500 chex, its only known frequencies, 11760 & 15140 are both
OFF. Still on is 15230, VP undermodulated presumably Spanish.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9439.995, Sept 10 at 2159, R. Cairo, S9+25/35 into UTwente
but extremely distorted with humwhine, supposedly English. Something`s
always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Sept 11 at 0646, no signal from R. Kiribati JBA
carrier, tending to confirm Ron Howard`s suggestion that it may be
silent on local Sunday nights. He could also not hear it this date.

Date correct, omitted previously: 846, Sept 9 at 0615, JBA carrier,
from R. Kiribati (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Sept 11 at 0624, VON is absent direct.

7255- also absent at 1744 into Canary SDR with heavy storm crashes
only some JBA signal within a few Hz of 7255, probably China. But at
1753 has cut on at minus 67/68 Hz offset with some squeal vs talk
about Nigeria in English at S9/+10, still heavy crashes all over
Morocco, northern Algeria. 1824 recheck, off again (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Sept 11 at 0710, JBA presumed SIBC, with
5025 Cuba absent, but carrier should still have been detectable.

Martin Hadlow says SIBC is offering a special eQSL for correct reports
on its 70th anniversary date Sept 23 only, on SW or MW 1035, to
sibcnews@solomon.com.sb I have one from the original VQO long ago on
5960. 5020 hours are nominally 05-12 UT but Ron Howard often hears it
for two or three hours later. Nominal daytime frequency until 0500,
9545, has not been reported for a long time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SWAZILAND. 11880, Sept 11 at 1458, S5/S6, TWR music box IS, ID
seems axually to say ``ESwátini``, 1500 into language, listed Somali
daily to 1530, Sundays -1545 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830.007, Sept 10 at 2200, VOT English starting, VG into
UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE. (7730), circa 0500 UT, UR1 via WRMI with `Ukraine:
Security Issue` war reports, as copied later from website. BTW, the 5
September edition is missing from the archive; was there something
wrong with it? It still exists if you use this direct link as in my
Roundup covering that date, with my as always incomplete notes:
http://ukr.radio/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_05_09_22.mp3

I`ve already reported on Sept 6, Day 195, and Sept 7, Day 196.

For Sept 8, Day 197:

http://www.nrcu.gov.ua/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_08_09_22.mp3
including: U continues counteroffensive, 30 strixe launched. R command
post destroyed. Almost 640 Rs KIA, highest daily total so far, in all
more then 51K. High alert along BR border. In Mariupol R continues
preps for show trial of Azov defenders, also civilians. UN mission to
arrive in a Donetsk village to investigate R attack. After 6 weeks, R
returned body of British volunteer, tortured and murdered? body is
mutilated, needs forensic investigation. Companion is still in
captivity. US has evidence that Putin admin officials are in charge of
occupied areas, war crime. Hundreds of thousands of Us deported to R.
US SOS Blinken arrived in Kyiv, $ 2 billion aid package for U and
neighbors in Europe announced.

For Sept 9, Day 198: oh, oh, the link for that really goes back to
Sept 7 and if you change the 7 to 9 it`s unfound. O well (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKOGBANI. Proms on the BBC World Service --- The BBC Sounds linx to
Proms have been displaying almost-year-long access, so I have been
taking my time listening to them, so far up to only #17. However, on
air announcements have been saying for only 30 days following the Last
Night!

Taking a look, #64 shows for 30 days from now, i.e. September 40 or
about October 10, while #65 shows 359 days! What are we to believe, or
does it depend on whichever individual concert? 73, Glenn Hauser

Sorry, but since BBCWS snubs N American SWLs - and others, I must
again recommend listening at your pleasure for the next 364 days via:

Furthermore these would not be edited down to fit into a less than
one-hour slot {Many run 2:30 on Radio 3 including non-Prom fill after
approx. 2 hour concert} 73, Glenn Hauser --- HOWEVER:

``Classical music
Last night of the Proms cancelled out of respect for Queen

After cancellation of Thursday evening’s event, BBC announces final
two concerts of the eight-week season will not go ahead
Last modified on Fri 9 Sep 2022 16.45 EDT

The BBC has announced that both Friday and Saturday’s Proms have been
cancelled. Saturday would have been the Last Night, the traditional
celebration that concludes the eight-week classical music festival
that takes place predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall.

Although the Last Night has been modified in response to public events
(the programme was changed in 1997 after the death of Diana Princess
of Wales and in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks) this is the first time
since the second world war that the final concert has not taken place
at all.

Thursday night’s concert – the first of two due to feature the
Philadelphia Orchestra – was also called off only half an hour before
the event. An announcement was made at 7 pm, and with much of the
audience already arriving at the venue, the orchestra instead played
the National Anthem and Elgar’s Nimrod. The Royal Box remained empty
and the curtain behind the seats was closed as a mark of respect.

Later that evening the BBC announced that the season’s two remaining
Proms would also be cancelled “as a mark of respect”. Saturday’s Prom
was to have featured soprano Lise Davidsen and cellist Sheku
Kanneh-Mason with Dalia Stasevska conducting the BBC Symphony
Orchestra.

Many people on social media questioned the decision and saw it as a
missed opportunity to use the Last Night as a musical tribute to the
Queen.

The event was due to be broadcast live on BBC Two and its second half
on BBC One as well as on BBC Radio 3 and across the world.`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. ND Beacon scan, Sept 11 at 0649-0658 UT, MCW in kHz:

420, PK, 25 watts in Olathe / Herbb KS. Heard equally well first tuned

347, AFK, 25 watts inn NebrasKa City NE

267, HET, 25 watts in HenryETta OK when tuned to 265 USB. Seldom heard

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2155 monitoring: confirmed UT
Sunday September 11 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S6/S9+25 into Maryland SDR,
starting with self-imposed noise.

NOT confirmed UT Sunday September 11 at 0322 or anytime later past
0453 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, because it`s OFF the air as monitored by
nearby remote, with heavy storm crashes; indeed there is Blitz right
over the St Louis area. The first airing was already confirmed. Next:

** U S A. 9330v, Sept 11 at 1502, WBCQ/WLCR absent again, tho appears
to be active at various other dayparts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5800, Sept 11 at 0704, this WRMI is off. O, the skedgrid
dated Sept 9 shows WRMI-10 at 22-04 only; while WRMI-4 is also on 5800
never. Both 160 degrees like 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5980, Sept 11 at 0705, JBA carrier, unlikely to be the
leapfrog mixing product which 5890 & 5935 WWCR normally provide
weekends only, unless it has been almost suppressed. But nothing else
is known at this hour to EiBi & Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5970, Sept 11 at 0709, RCM WEWN Spanish is again/still
absent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15555 USB, Sept 11 at 1455, WJHR Milton FL is audible with
gospel huxter peaking S8 vs noise level of S7. Normally inaudible here
yet when others hear it, as we need some HF sporadic-E boost at its
too-close distance, like now with 15825 WWCR inbooming instead of JBA
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 9940 & 9475 & 5830 & 5085, Sept 11 at 1504, NO WTWWs
anywhere despite being Sunday morning prime churching time. JBA
carrier however on 9940 which would be CNR1 jamming and/or RFA
Mandarin via Kuwait, this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7932+, Sept 11 at 0623, R. Vanuatu still audible here on 2
x 3966+ with music vs. CODAR. At 0659 it`s already switched to the
other set: 8620.377, S2/S4; 12960.567, S2/S3; 4310.189, JBA. Each
measured independently but very close harmonic matches (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
