** EGYPT. 9439.995, Aug 9 at 2140, R. Cairo S9+20/35 into UTwente, mostly just a whine with bits of talk modulation breaking thru at peaks, more so during extremely distorted music, totally useless. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, August 9 at 1515, Voice of Martyrs Korea, Christian talk in English, not Dhivehi, S8/9+10, rating as the strongest signal on band! except for OOB 12160 WWCR blaster: better than 11760 Cuba and 11860, 11930 Cuba-non which reach only S9. Remains incredible from secret site supposedly aimed toward the opposite side of the world (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. Alan Roe replies to my previous report: ``Hi Glenn, It wasn't entirely clear, but I think that Justin meant that the Letterbox/DX Programme is upcoming in a *forthcoming* edition of the programme saying: " ... soon we'll talk shop in another letterbox/DX Programme, but today what we are going to do is to return to our ... interview with ... Idoia López" (which turns out to be a repeat of a feature aired originally, I think, on 20 June). Anyway, the Letterbox/DX Programme is therefore likely to be aired this Wednesday or Friday, and it's good news that the REE English programme is continuing. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. Fixing a couple of time typos in previous report: 9830, August 8 at 2234, VOT English, S9/+20 into UTwente, with continuous lite humbuzz but tolerable in Turkish music, 2236 feature about electricars, 2242 another song, 2248 Did You Know That? After sign-off schedule, IS from 2255; restart at 2256 then with German IDs twice a minute. Still on at 2300 timesignal, sign-on bonus German, same humbuzz as before during news past 2305 tune-out... (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, August 9 at 2157, via UTwente standing by for VOT in English --- but no show by 2208, just much weaker signal locked onto including Chinese timesignal at 2200. Maybe later? Maybe an hour of German and another of Portuguese like yesterday? You never know. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, August 9 at 0501, UR1 via WRMI with `Ukraine: Security Issue`, tuned in too late to hear datestamp, but by YL, including: Russia`s nuclear blackmail; 2000 civilians evacuated from Luhansk region. Surprisingly, 0507 immediately followed by *another* U:SI with a different announcer, OM, as for August 8, Day 168, but it sounds strangely familiar like the edition heard yesterday, ending with the Turkish UAV factory story until 0514. Same script, re-voiced? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2150 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday August 9 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S7/9+10 into Maryland SDR. Lite QRM from extremely regular noise bursts as clearly visible on waterfall, 40 times per minute, but occasionally replaced by a totally different-looking and -sounding burst. These span roughly 9300-9700, tapering off up to 10000. Recheck at 0110, they are gone. Something nearby that SDR, or widespread? No other station noted. Also before 0559 UT, nothing heard on 11835. At my QTH, I would definitely hear CNR2 if it was on 11835 kHz. Last year I did in fact have some serious CNR2 QRM problems while trying for Radio Vanuatu's harmonic on 11835, but no such problem this year. I believe CNR2 on 11835 was last listed for the A21 schedule. Currently Aoki lists nothing on 11835, which conforms to my frequent observations. Only RV is currently heard on 11835. ``- - - - A few of my CNR2 (11835) logs from last year: Aug 1-2, 2021, on 11835, at 0630, ID in English for "This is C-N-R Business Radio" (CNR2), so continuing with the BoH ID, which is not used at ToH. May 10, 2021, heard Radio Vanuatu on 7890 (harmonic), found a new starting time of *0659; from 0704 to 0728, news/sports in Bislama; approaching fair reception; 11835 harmonic covered by CNR2. Ron, California`` -- I replied: ``Hi Ron, OK, if it`s not CNR2 now, maybe the RV carrier itself is unstable, causing the `two-tone het` if listening on 11834-USB. That would be understandable since it`s a spurious harmonic in the first place. So we should hear nothing at all on 11835 before 0600. 73, Glenn`` And so I start checking at 0555 UT August 9. Yes, no signal at all on 11835, but 7260 has the JBA carrier no doubt from RV. Seems to waver a bit, and with splash from 7265 French = VOA SAO TOME; but of course no problem from 7255, Nigeria long gone. Then I`m QRX for 11835 to come on, which it does at *0559:12, S6/S8. Again it seems to waver slightly, maybe propagation-caused if not transmitter instability. I haven`t been measuring it, but do so this time: only about 3 or 4 Hz high (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2213 UT August 9 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
