Glenn Hauser logs July 12-13, 2022
Wednesday, July 13 2022

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Wednesday July 13 from 1455 to 1555,
NEVER any signal from LRA36 into best Argentine SDR, another failure
of scheduled broadcast; but there are blaaps every 7.5 seconds and
irregular clix, OTH radar? none of which would have been serious
obstacles. Better luck on Saturday July 16? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165, July 13 at 0630, all these RHCs are
off already in English. You never know which or any will remain after
0600. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM. The much-anticipated first images from the
Webb Spacescope: yes, they are impressive and pretty - but we realize
they are the outcome of post-produxion, as no humaneye could ever see
anything like that. We hope to trust that the colorization, converted
from infrared wavelengths, bear some relation to reality; but spare us
all the six-pointed ``stars``, which if not imposed deliberately would
be considered produced by defective optix. Not satisfied with glimpses
on various TV news, I went to the NASA.gov website, which also
prompted me to take a survey: fine, I`ll tell them off! ``Do not close
this window`` --- I did not but it disappeared anyway.

Oops, altho gone from main screen I later find it - but most of the 37
questions are *required multiple-choice, and have nothing to do with
my issue, rather presentation of the website in general, etc.
Nevermind (Glenn Hauser, Terra, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27184.7 AM, July 12 at 2351, CB pirate relay of 103.1
KOFM Enid during local adstring, S9+10/20. What a bonus for
advertisers! Does KOFM even know or care about this hijacking? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, July 13 at 0501-0507, `Ukraine: Security
Issue` via WRMI. Missed the datestamp but not a repeat of yesterday so
must be new. As for the other UR1 relay:

``Checked yesterday and today, July 12 and 13, WRMI still airing
preacher at 1200 UT on 5010 kHz. There's no introduction to this
program, seems to be joined in progress. Glad to hear they've resumed
the Ukraine program at 0500. Monitored on Ocean Ridge, Florida, remote
SDR. Not readable here directly. Joe Ihnat, Southwestern Pennsylvania,
USA, HCDX`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 245 MCW kHz, July 13 at 0635 UT, FS, ND beacon at
Falls, Sioux, SD, 400 watts, JBA vs somewhat abated storm noise level,
altho common in winter. A bit easier, 248 MCW kHz, 1000 watts of dash
and WG, Winnipeg (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 12695.5 CW, July 13 at 0034, KFS, Half Moon Bay, CA, with CQ
and QSX marker over and over. No breaks ever heard past 0057 for axual
contacts. Monitored for convenience via Maryland remote running, but
could have heard direct. This was the MRHS ``Night of Nights`` annual
celebration, as explained:
https://www.radiomarine.org/mrhs-events
There were also KPH CW and RTTY press broadcasts copied and posted by
others to the WOR iog, and hamband activity (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday
July 12 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9+5 into Maryland remote and no jamming
audible at first; but storm noise over MD and Blitz all the way from
Nashville to DC, and Pennsylvania to Monticello.

Also confirmed Tuesday July 12 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S8/S9 into
Maryland with storm crashes. Worse direct, unusable, S5/S8 vs noise
level. Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

New WOR 2147 should be ready for download and first broadcasts
early UT Friday by 0130 on WRMIs 5850, 7730 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, July 13 at 1952, VOA `Flashpoint: Ukraine` succeeds
via WRMI, program ID between interviews; S9+10 steady into Maryland
SDR, immediately followed at 2000 by gospel huxter at much louder
volume level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, July 13 at 0624, No signal from WLCR/WBCQ in first
bandscan sweep but a minute later at 0625 it`s on as usual in English.
Maybe break for lightning storms? 9265 WINB also missing (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5890 & 3215, July 13 at 0630, 50% of WWCR are OFF with
TOMBS, but still on: 5935 with TUN/DGS, and 4840 with TOMBS; why?
There had been storms over Nashville (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 11835, July 13 circa 0630, still no signal from RV X3. I
did not think to check 7260 before or after 0600, but others did:

``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain: Strong carrier and some extremely weak
audio detected here in Reinante, NW of Spain, good signal via SDR Kiwi
remote receivers in New Zealand. VANUATU, Radio Vanuatu on air again,
7260, 0521-0612, 13-07, Bislama, English, comments, Island songs, at
0601 hour interval signal news in English, advertisements and more
songs. No change to 3945 at 0559 as usual. At 0705 Vanuatu still
continues on 7260 khz.``

``Manuel - Thanks for the timely alert! Radio Vanuatu (7260) on July
13, from 0702 to 0716 UT, with the news (unreadable); poor to very
poor; nothing on 14520 nor 21780; still on 7260 (ex: 3945) after
0815+. Ron (California)`` Howard (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2012 UT July 13
