GLENN HAUSER`S EQUIPMENT. Some editors keep reproducing out-of-date list. Notably, FRG-7, out of service for many years. I still have two of them, neither funxional, on the table next to my primary Icom R75. Other primary is JRC NRD-545. I have several portables but the only ones in regular use as backup or mobile are Tecsun PL-880 and Radio Shack DX-398. Antennas, besides telescopic are indoor random wire clipons, Wellbrook ALA 330S loop indoor permanently aimed E/W for the JRC; and 100 foot E/W longwire for the Icom. And BSR-1 caradio, with fender antenna of about one foot which still gets amazingly a lot.

Our club's web site is: ns9rc.org To help discover 10M band openings, the NSRC has operated a propagation beacon on 28.297 MHz since 2001. It is located at the Heller Nature Center in Highland Park, IL about 27 miles north of downtown Chicago. The beacon was built from a Radio Shack HTX-100 running 5 watts to a Cushcraft AR-10 half wave vertical. CW message keying is performed by an Ultimate PicoKeyer. The 10M band is open a lot more than you may think, even during periods of low sunspot activity, so be sure to check the beacon portion of the band between 28.200 and 28.300 regularly, you may be pleasantly surprised with what you hear. Reception reports on our beacon are always welcome and over the years we have received them from over 30 countries and every continent except Antarctica. We will gladly send a QSL card if requested, please send your report to KK9H. 28284.8 CW, June 7 at 2330, VVV N9TNY/B EN51PS[?]: 28.2848 N9TNY C GENEVA, ILLINOIS # 5W VERTICAL New 21 May 2020 N9TNY USA flag USA MICHAEL J KUPP 1000 MANCHESTER COURSE GENEVA, IL 60134 Listen for my 24/7, 10 Meter, 4 Watt Beacon on 28.284.8 Mhz.
