Glenn Hauser logs March 25-26, 2022
Saturday, March 26 2022

Hauser
** BRAZIL. 28465 USB, March 25 at 2158, PY2HT calling QRZ, speaking
Portuguese to a W5, CQDX. QRZ.com: PY2HT Brazil flag Brazil, Carlos
Alberto Brandino, av. prefeito newton reis, 2692, Jardinópolis, SP,
14680000, Brazil.

Not much on 10 m, but another T-E Brazilian is making it on 28440 USB,
PY4HM with a KN6- station. QRZ.com: PY4HM Brazil flag Brazil,
HUGO MOTA, Rua Heitor Modesto, 453 - Estação - Sao Lourenco [sic,
sloppy lack of accents], MG, 37470000, Brazil (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 346 MCW kHz, March 25 at 0636 UT, dash and YXL, 500-watt ND
beacon in Sioux Lookout, Ontario - nice to at least detect this one in
noisy seasonal conditions (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 13530, 13130, 13020, March 25 at 1437, JBA signals to JBA
carriers from CNR1 jammers on long-established SOH channels (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR) See also TURKEY [and non]

** CUBA. 6165, March 25 at 0632, RHC English is S9/+20 but
undermodulated; 6100 is S9+30 of DEAD AIR; 6060 S9+10 with hum vs
program modulation. 5040 still on in Spanish, S9+20/30: this seems to
be the norm now, even after an 05-06 hour of English. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also USA: WBCQ

** CUBA [non]. 7355, March 25 at 2217, R. Martí here is running about
7 seconds behind 7375 // 9565, why? Surely all three are Grimesland B
site NC. Believe no others active during this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** EGYPT. 9899.759, March 25 at 2147, R. Cairo is S9+25/35 into
UTwente, almost dead air but just barely modulated. At 2155 direct,
9899.7+, JBM at S7/S9+5 during alleged English sesquihour. Something`s
always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** RUSSIA [non]. 9370, March 25 1936, R. Svoboda relay in Russian, via
Armenia? good into UTwente but het from weak carrier on 9372, jamming?
Nonesuch at 1956 into Izhevsk, Russia SDR, VG S9+15 and no het (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, March 25 at 2304, VOT is VG S9+35 but with
some hum into UTwente; 2310 `Review of the Turkish Press`. I can tell
that the announcer in English now pronounces the country `Türkiye` as
now required; however, the words ``Turkish`` and ``Turkey`s`` still
sound more like English, whew. 2312 multi-lingual ID reel which fills
a little less than two minutes. 2314 song. 2318 `Weekly Analysis` by
some professor, about NATO having to decide whether to be defensive or
offensive. 2322, COVID PSA, yes, still asserting, ``a vaccine is yet
to be found``!, song; 2328 `Feeling Supreme` repeat about cures for
insomnia starting with rosemary and cherry pie.

At 0014 March 26, I find 5960 is still on! in spurious German hour,
S9+30/40 into UTwente. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. I
leave it on underneath AAAWWW. 0044 `Feeling Supreme` theme; 0053
completes full German hour and into IS, but off by 0058, uncovering
EAST TURKISTAN, land of imperialist Han ChiCom genocide against
Uighurs and other Moslems; 0100 timesignal arriving 2 seconds late,
enthusiastic vocal NA and apparently some crowd event (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 329 MCW kHz, March 25 at 0648, PMV, 25-watt ND beacon at
Plattsmouth, Nebraska, among very few detectable now (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2131 monitoring: confirmed on
restored first airings after missing last week, UT Friday March 25 at
0130 on WRMIs, 7780 S9+10/20 into UTwente, and 5850, S9+30/35 into
Missouri SDR. Note from next week 7730 ex-7780, still aimed NE.

Not confirmed UT Fri Mar 25 at 0330 on WRMI 5985, instead WOR 2130
from last week --- my fault, as I didn`t get 2131 uploaded to System D
server in time! All the repeats tho are ready with 2131. Anyhow, 5985
aimed 222 for C America, does put a good S9+5/15 signal into Bonaire
SDR, checked at 0340; unlike to N America here off the side. I had
tuned in direct at 0327, to hear it cut on at *0328 with `top of the
hour` BBB ID and IS loop, reading S8/S9 but noisy.

This WRMI-2 transmitter on 5985 is the least-used of all, only
0330-0430 except UT Sun & Mon an additional sesquihour = total 10
hours per week. And at 0400-0430 has been R. Japón in Spanish, which
is about to be canceled, so it may not pay to turn it on at all? The
0330-0400 strip includes three DX programs, otherwise gospel huxters.

WOR 2131 also confirmed Friday March 25 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S9+10
direct on the air unlike last week.

Also confirmed Friday March 25 from 1915.5 UT on IRRS SW, 7290, VG
S9+25/35 into UTwente but ACI splash from 7295 ChiCom requiring LSB or
narrow AM tuning.

Also audible on second harmonic! Synch displayed as 14579.995.09 very
steady last digit varying only to 10. I had tuned in both earlier from
1907 with UN News, 1909 fill music. How about 3 x harmonic on 21870?
No, but the night MUF from Bulgaria is holding up better than it has
been. 14580 is S7 at first, some RTTY QRM on plus side, but quite
readable. Much weaker S5 at 1919, but gone by 1933.

Also confirmed // on AM Italia, 1323 kHz, Villa Estense, into nearby
Noale SDR. 1906 at first some CCI from Romania, but during WOR from
1915.5 Fri Mar 25, mostly clear including during my Ukraine clip at
1937. From next week due to DST in Europe, WOR at 1815 Fridays.

Also confirmed Fri Mar 25 at 2145 check the 2130 repeat on 1323, good
S9+5 with no QRM but some noise. From next week: at 2030 UT. Next:

Also confirmed UT Saturday March 26 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+20 into
Maryland SDR. Next:

0400 UT Saturday WBCQ 4790 to WSW
1930 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE [may be pre-empted]
1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM
0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7730 to WNW or 7780?
0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0430]
1330 UT Sunday WMRI Europe via Ch 292 Germany 9670
2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy [ex-2100]
2230 UT Sunday WRMI 5950 to NNW [to be canceled?]
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to WNW [ex 7730]
0300vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW
0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to NNW
2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?]
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW [new]

woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7490.1v), et al., March 25 at 2359 via Maryland SDR, I`m
checking all three WBCQ frequencies with offsets: 6160 - 56 Hz =
6159.944 at S8/S9+5, in fact with ACI from 6165 Cuba already on; 7490
+ 70 Hz = 7490.070 at S9+5/15; 4790 +2 Hz = 4790.002 at S5/S7; nothing
on 3265. Then I just listen on webcast:

UT Saturday March 26 from 0000, `AAAWWW`, not a repeat, but many of
the same `free speech`, pro-Trump points over and over. It`s a
turbulent world. New Cold War? This would not be happening ``if the
president were in the White House`` instead of ``a clown, an idiot,
temporarily in power``. SW, especially WBCQ. more important than ever.
SW is ``fancy AM``.

Major news now is that A&A have already purchased two used 100 kW SW
transmitters; as fund-raising continues. But shipping these heavy
items is expensive --- ``a fortune``. He never says where they are
coming from, why not?? Now in process to upgrade Classic WBCQ this
summer. Wants to get a total of four additional transmitters. WBCQ is
in fortunate position, totally O&O by A&A, no debt; remote Maine
location with no NIMBY problems, WBCQ beloved by the neighbors.

0038 datestamp as 25 of March YOOLF 2022, 64 degrees in Studio 9. Vs
coming storm urges everyone to upgrade SW antennas, such as the FPW.
Verticals are better at minimizing powerline noise but need to be
grounded. 0044 reading from new issue of FRW including YHWH item but
he`s not sure which number is the time and which the frequency.

0050 picks some of his favorite shows from the 7490 program sked which
Jason has sent. 0052 email. 0058 prayer. Almost 0101 JIP Hal Turner
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, Fri March 25 at 1935, WRMI relay of `Flashpoint
Ukraine` of VOA; 1959 conclusion says there will be a special edition
tomorrow Saturday due to Pres. Biden speech in Europe. So that might
blow away the WOR 1930 time on 15770 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Enough!! Lunging for the remote to mute the TV, at least
once every hour for a couple weeks on CNN and MSNBC and probably many
other channels. A car ad which starts with a kids` orchestra playing
horribly out-of-tune ``Also Sprach Zaratustra``. I will not identify
the car but swear never to buy one, if for no other reason. The first
time we heard this, it was really fun: that was on WCLV`s `Weekend
Radio` where you expect comedy (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9278.2 USB, March 25 at 2210, 2-way in Spanish, not
exactly intruders yet between WINB and WBCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0241 UT March 26
