Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Saturday March 5 at 1520, LRA36 is on,
S1/S2 into Campo, Brasil, SDR, slightly better than into Brasília #2,
during Antártida themesong; 1521 LRA36 ID, `El Lejano Sur`, also FM
96.7; hi & lo temps: -2 and +6 C, not bad. 1524 surges to S3/S5, talk
about a rare Catholic chapel in Antarctica, at Esperanza? 1530
``Nacional Antártida Argentina, en todo el país, la radio pública``,
songs. 1542 another talk segment, off at 1545*. Sam Sánchez, Órygun
was also hearing it remotedly as early as 1413. We`ve been checking
for it only on Weds & Sats per normal behaviour, altho it could be
otherdays for special occasions; and had been no-show on Feb 19, 26
and March 2 but heard on Feb 23. It`s about time for the new
all-female crewe of four to take over as publicized last year (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2128 monitoring: checking out new
time of 0500 UT Saturday, March 5 on WBCQ 4790, appendage to Radio
Angela bihour, tnx to Bill Tilford and the Weiners: starts a bit early
at 0459. UTwente: S7-S8, pretty good for off the back. Bill says it
was getting further into Europe. Synch shows 4789.9985, occasional
uteblaaps. At KB0FX Missouri: S9+10 also blaaps. At VE6JY Alberta: S8
would be good except for heavy CODAR. At Ohio SDR: good S9 with lite
CODAR. blaaps, whine. At Alexandria VA: S9/+20 but with loud whine not
CODAR. At Maryland SDR; S9 with some whine but better than Alexa. At
PEI: S6/S7 with same whine. At OKC, JBA with S9+ of noise level! At
0517 direct to Enid: S9+10/20 with CODAR and storm crashes from
Nebraska, not too bad. At 0522 to Rockport, Maine: S9/+10 with whine,
what is that? Reads -14.7 Hz offset carrier. 0526 way offbeam at St
Lucia, S7/S9 fair with no QRM except occasional uteblaaps. Wanted to
check Maui but it`s maxed out with WSPR.

HAM DX on 10, 12, 15 metres

It takes a contest for hams to exploit MUFs rather than assuming bands
are closed with no activity. Nice thing about 10m is that skip
distances are so long that anything is likely to be DX rather than
domestic. Logged all this in 17 minutes, March 5 at 1603-1620, with
qrz.com lookup info:

21426 USB, at 1603, V31XX says he is QSYing to .495 on 10 meters.
Bill Kollenbaum, Consejo Shores, Corozal District, BELIZE

28420.8 USB, at 1605, HK3X:
HK3X Colombia flag Colombia
PEDRO J. ALLINA, CALLE 155 # 9 - 45 APP 1221 T 1
QSL MANAGER CHARLES.WILMOTT@M0OXO.COM COLOMBIA
So there`s his street address, but not his city! Says has previously
been active from Malpelo - separate radio country island, but is he
there now??

28405 USB, at 1607, XQ3PC, contesting. After ``5,9`` this and others
may say ``K`` presumably meaning both 1000 watts and, over to you:
XQ3PC Chile flag Chile
James Thurston, Capitan Orella 2775 Ñuñoa, - Santiago, CHILE
lots of info and photos at
https://www.qrz.com/lookup/xq3pc

28390 USB, at 1612, ZF5T with 100 watts:
ZF5T Cayman Islands flag Cayman Islands
Brac Radio Contest Club, PO Box 73, Siloam Springs, AR 72761 USA
Another one hiding exact location: presumably somewhere on CAYMAN BRAC
rather than Grand Cayman or Little Cayman

28431 USB, at 1613, HK3C:
HK3C Colombia flag Colombia
John QTH is north of Bogota
Bogotá, COLOMBIA
http://www.hk3c.ca/
lots of info but does he ever reveal where he is? Surname on QSL is
Bartlett

28450 USB, at 1613, HP9SAM:
HP9SAM Panama flag Panama
Stephen A. Myers, Pocri, Province of Los Santos 0758, PANAMÁ

28469 USB, at 1615, TI7W, CQ Contest, K:
TI7W Costa Rica flag Costa Rica
Contest Call, QSL VIA M0URX, Guanacaste, COSTA RICA

28480 USB, at 1615, CE1VP, S8, CQ Contest:
``Your Search by Callsign found no results for CE1VP. CE1VP looks like
a callsign from CHILE (DXCC Entity #112). Would you like to add CE1VP
to the database?`` Well, no, but I`ve logged only ones with certain
fonetix, or so I thought

28486 USB, at 1616, PY2PT, CQ Contest:
PY2PT Brazil flag Brazil
RICARDO RODRIGUES, Caixa Postal 42066, SÃO PAULO, SP 04082970, BRAZIL
has made lots of DX-peditions, especially Pacific islands:
https://www.qrz.com/lookup/py2pt

28514.5 USB, at 1617, V31XX: finally find BELIZE on 10m QSY from 15

28524 USB, at 1619, CX5A, CQ contest:
CX5A Uruguay flag Uruguay
Radiogrupo Sur, P. O. Box 950, 11000-Montevideo, URUGUAY
lots of info and photos
https://www.qrz.com/lookup/cx5a

On 10m seems all phone activity is below 28550; No beacons heard in
the 28200-28300+ range, are they all off? Not much phone activity on
12 or 17m, bands not eligible for contest, but:

24980 USB, at 1620, one QSO concludes without ever giving own call

Later circa 1850 on caradio, the Crazy Band is hopping on 27025v-AM
but all sound very domestic.

DXMAPS at 2010 UT show 6m Es MUF at 72 MHz across N America, not
unusual, but never breaching 88 for FMDX. At 28 MHz, huge contacting
N/S America mostly F2 or TEP, not sporadic E (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2022 UT March 5
