** EGYPT. 9899.606+, Feb 21 at 2107 no signal yet into UTwente, but by 2116 recheck it`s on, S9+30 in suptorted English, totally unusable. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** GERMANY [non]. 15215, Feb 21 at 1544, JBA carrier, presumed AWR Guam or Sri Lanka, both sites listed, scheduled until 1600. 15215, Mon Feb 21 from 1555 I am monitoring via Maryland SDR for Radio Amrum/Öömrang, annual one-hour broadcast via FRANCE aimed at New York where there are more Frisian expats than on the islands themselves. Cuts on abruptly at *1600, VG S9+10/20 but with constant humwhine undertone for entire hour. Sign-on in German, then 1601 English with full details as 500 kW, crediting backers by name, coördinated with annual bonfire ceremony at this very hour. 1602 into interview of schoolteacher with frequent summaries in English of what has been said, at approx.: 1609.8, 1614.5, 1620.5, 1622. I think this is not the same recording as last year; at least refers once to what happened in 2020. 1626 full ID again in German with telefon numbers, and English, same as at sign-on. Announcer is Gerhard ---. 1628 different interview starts with Mr and Mrs Peters, mentions Corona, and ``ankles`` more than once in English summaries, meaning uncles? At 1630 a quick check of direct reception to deep North America: S9/+10. More English pauses at 1637.5, 1639.8; 1644.5 about the Frisian language being taught in schools there two hours per week; 1650.5. 1656 full ID again, including two phone numbers, first of which is 046822688. 1658 modulation stops, still humwhine carrier and now also JBA warbling like jamming, until cut off at 1700.3*. An unique annual tradition continues. Despite the contact info given, apparently no QSLing, other than proxy by MBR transmission provider. Following my imminent alert to the WOR iog, widely reported across our continent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GREECE. 9420, Feb 21 at 2107, no signal from VOG into UTwente. Others checking lately have not been hearing it either. We fear it may be an earlier permanent QRT than expected. Still nothing at 0037 Feb 22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 15530.040, Mon Feb 21 at 1544, JBA off-frequency carrier. KSDA is scheduled 1530-1600 in Tibetan except days 12347 in English = Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed/Sat (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also GERMANY [non] ** TURKEY. 5960, Feb 21 at 2325, no signal direct from VOT English. Must have come on way late, for at 2341 it`s S9+30, VG modulation into UTwente with that COVID PSA, music. Wonderful IS playing by 2352; 2356 fades audio down audiblizing the CCCCCCI; then restarting IS with German IDs interspersed twice a minute. Pause at 0000 Feb 22, timesignal mixing out of step with East Turkistan, standard denunciation; s/on in German with detailed irrelevant satellite parameter info. Not until 0004 do the Nachrichten start. Announcer has poor mumbly enunciation. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. Still going at 0014 into music, and 0022 check in German. No telling how long this will last --- until the sleepyrator upwake. Bonus not likely to last the entire hour, too bad: ahh, Schluß at 0024* uncovering imperialist Mandarin from Xinjiang. BTW, the guy who runs the jammer against Dengê Welat is trying to control how people speaking other languages pronounce Turkey; the Germans are all set with their facility for umlauting! Next step: resurrecting the Ottoman Empire? No, that won`t do: footstools! ``Goodbye Turkey, hello Türkiye Turkey is rebranding its internationally recognised name as “Türkiye”. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the new name “represents and expresses the culture, civilisation and values of the Turkish nation in the best way”. But the change is about more than phonetic pronunciation. BBC Monitoring’s Ilgin Karlidag explains. But the latter JBA call now sounds more like FC. Nonesuch currently listed on 332, 333 or 334, but RNA classaxe does show an FCY on 332, 25 watts at Forrest City, Arkansas, last reported in 2005y. Maybe miskeying IC or confused by mixing with something else. An N added to an I would sound like an F (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0056 UT 2/22/22
