No other frequencies still on, 5 or 6 MHz bands. 5040 is open for JBA carrier, presumably Vanuatu. India would not be audible this early, but Jose Jacob reports that AIR Jeypore has closed 5040 permanently! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, Jan 1 at 0733, R. Rebelde is OFF! Normally 24 hours. And Jan 1 is an important Revolutionary anniversary. Another year-end QRT? Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU. 4810, Jan 1 at 0738, music JBaudible on LSB vs Martinique STANAG on USB, presumably R. Logos, maybe extended for New Year (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Thanks this week to Richard Terry Colgan, Austin TX, for a contribution via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to: woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5800, UT January 1, 2022 from 0200, WRMI with `Nochevieja Panamericana` special hour provided by Uncle Bill Tilford, and Luis Vallebueno co-hosting, mostly in Spanish but some English. VG reception direct to the R75 and E-W longwire on 5800, but even better SINPO 55555 via the Knoxville TN SDR, at steady S9+18. The // 7780 is VP by comparison, but at 0220 I do find it S9/+10 into UTwente SDR. Anyhow I`m at the computer so prefer to listen that way; and also keep an eye on several TV NYE specials. Here`s a summary of what I heard after the first few minutes, and reported to Luis for eQSL: 0209 greeting in English from Alan Roe, UK 0210 Carlos Gardel music 0213 music from Maracaibo 0217 costumbres de Venezuela 0221 Gayle Van Horn greeting 0222 pasacalle traditional ritmo, Ecuador 0225 Thomas Witherspoon greeting 0229 ID by Bill in English, YL voice in Spanish 0230 Jeff White greeting; WRMI Okeechobee now for 8 years + many more 0231 merengue from Dominican Republic 0234 Fred Waterer greeting 0235 Veracruz music, Cuban influenced 0242 Julho in Brasil in English introduces a NYE pop song from 1951 0245 vals from Perú 0248 greeting from Guillermo Glenn Hauser in Spanish: formerly with [Espacio DXista], Radio Enlace, Mundo Radial; still welcomes input in Spanish for World of Radio after 2100+ episodes 0249 song from Chile 0254 ``5 para las 12`` song 0258 QSL info in Spanish and English: at least 15 minutes of details, SINPO, etc. to vallebueno@gmail.com 0259.5 to Zanotti WRMI ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7489.9v), UT Sat Jan 1 at 0100, WBCQ webcast with `AAAWWW`, but Allan`s initial comments sound familiar: picking nose, toilet paper, Angela taking horse-riding lessons. Yes, it`s a rerun so tune-out by 0105. From mid-north Indiana, John Carver agrees: ``For what it's worth, Glenn. 4790 and 6160 are carrying Brother Scare tonight instead of Allan's show. Signal from 7490 went to hell about half way through the program. Impossible to copy now. I still believe tonight's program is a rerun. John, Old and in the way`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4840, Jan 1 at 0736, S9+30/40 of dead air except for some hum on this WWCR, while the others are OK, 3215, 5890, 5935. This happens again and again. Is anyhuman present at 1300 WWCR Avenue overnight? That would seem to be prudent with 4 x 100 kW SW and 1 x 50 kW MW transmitters running. The place burned down once before, or was it twice? If so, dozing or not paying attention. However, no loss with repugnant programming, mostly dead Brother Scare or dead Gene Scott (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 485.9 kHz, Jan 1 at 0725 UT, JBA carrier direct, perhaps the Fessenden experimental special from Forest VA, WI2XLQ, during final 24-hour broadcast to end at 2000 UT Jan 1. Not trying harder to hear it now, since I definitely had it last week via closer remote at Bakersville NC, about 310 km = 192 statute miles away. (Distancefromto.net is screwed, insisting that Forest VA is in San Antonio TX or the UK, so I measure Lynchburg VA instead). Lots of IRCA MW DXers were trying to hear it this week. Here and I expect far beyond, there are storm crashes from a line running from SE OK thru AR into KY, much like the Xmas tornado track (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2108 UT January 1 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
