** BOLIVIA. 5952.459, Dec 19 at 0016, Radio Pio Doce on its signature split frequency, as measured at three Brazilian SDRs; JBA carrier but some audio of energetic talk and music best at Brasília #2 if tuning SAU or AMN to avoid WRMI 5950. No longer there by 0100. Tnx to tip from Lúcio Otávio Bobrowiec in Brasil to the WOR iog at 2313 Dec 18. It`s been inactive for months. Both LOB and I found the last previous log of it was by him on April 20, 2021, and that was also after months` absence (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** EGYPT. 9899.591, Dec 18 at 2209, R. Cairo is S9+40 into UTwente, but extremely distorted English modulation, unusable. As usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1000 kHz, Dec 19 at 1758 UT, KTOK OKC is dead air; ID fires just before 1800, back to dead air news. This on the R75; but after 1805 on other radios portable, PL-880 and DX-398, there is weak modulation of a talk show which chex out // KTOK stream not synchronized. Maybe the R75 put an internal overriding signal on 1000? Have not noticed this before. And/or KTOK is really very undermodulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 27, Dec 18 at first check 1602 UT, NO signal from KFOR, NBC in OKC. Altho we are at edge of marginal level-1 tropo blob, all other channels seem normal except for a BAD signal on 21. KFOR must really be off the air! It pops back on at *1606 with `Meet the Press` underway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 18 at 2352, VOT English has been well modulated and strong direct but with a bit of a squeal, now signing off this ``1330 on 12035`` broadcast, chopped off air before interval signal can complete one play. So no German to collide with KBC this week (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2117 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday December 19 at 0030 on WRMIs: 7730 VG direct; 5950 S9+40 into KB0FX MO SDR, but with a het from Bolivia, q.v. unless avoided. Also confirmed UT Sun Dec 19 at 0419.5 at the midpoint so started early about 0406 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+10 as far away as Knoxville but with considerable too-close CWQRM; another 160m contest? I`m rarely awake in time to check Sun 1330 on WMRI Europe 9670 via Channel 292, Germany. Did anyone hear it Dec 19? Bob Heil says there will be Xmasmx the next three weeks; ends abruptly at 0143, ID and back to ham or rock stuff (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED.
