Hauser
** CUBA [and non]. 9700, Dec 18 at 0650, JBA music not // RHC so must
be Turkey, but RHC not on alternates 6165 or 6145 either. It is still
on in English 5040, 6000, 6060 with buzz, and 6100 just barely
modulated. Somethings` always wrong at RHC. At 0659 I notice that 5040
has switched to Spanish, despite no Spanish scheduled anywhere after
0600. Something else wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Dec 18 at 1606, RHC Spanish S9/S7 with humbuzz.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAMAICA. 18157.5 USB, Dec 18 at 1603, 6Y6Y concluding contact with
a W7 who says he is QSYing away; then 6Y6Y worx some more simplex.

``6Y6Y Jamaica flag Jamaica

** NORTH AMERICA. 6919.978 AM, Dec 18 at 1613, JBA music, presumed the
very active pirate seemingly in western N America, Radio Pushka. Which
means rifle in Bulgarian, or more generically, gun in Russian (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11840, Dec 18 at 1820, no signal from Station YHWH,
anti-Christ pirate; nor anything like it elsewhere on 25m. He used to
be fairly active but not always, middays, especially weekends? If
anyone could have heard, Rick Barton in AZ, but his last report of
Josiah was exactly four weeks ago, Sat Nov 20 until 1811*. On Sept 5,
7 and 8 he was using 9700, 9720, 9775 in the 1440/1755 period, so we
should look around those too. Night frequency 7475 last reported Nov
6; previously quite active on 7470 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2117 monitoring: barely confirmed Dec 18 the
UT Sat 0230 on 9395 WRMI; at 0242, JBA carrier direct; trace at
Missouri remote reading S5, and nothing to Winnipeg; slightly better
to northern Utah, S3-S4, enough to be sure it`s my voice if not
recognize it as current edition, but surely it is. Hope there was
sufficient reception somewhere, but the MUF tends to plummet after
dark in the swamp; yet in the nightmiddle it`s often back up, e.g.
9955 good around 0700.

Also confirmed Sat Dec 18 at 1700 on WRN for N America webcast.

Also confirmed starting at 2032 UT Sat Dec 18 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM MO,
S9+10 into nearby KB0FX remote. Next:

0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7730 to WNW

** U S A. (7490.9v), UT Sat Dec 18 at 0100, WBCQ webcast not even
trying SW for `AAAWWW`. Unusually starts with a rock tune, but it`s
really A&A, not TimTron. Most of hour consumed with discussion of AM
Radio, and SW, whether they have a future? Maybe will last another ten
years.

Mentions that Angela`s maiden(previous?) name was Milberry (sp?) and
she grew up in Toronto, not NB. 0132 some brief anti-government remarx
implying that Pres. Biden is a criminal; and that COVID-19 is a
bio-weapon by China [but, but, why would they want to kill so many of
their own people and countless customers elsewhere?]. Allan does
advocate vaccination.

Would like to get a used solid-state transmitter for their 780 station
in Maine as electric bill for tube-type keeps going up. 0138 finally
datestamp at 17 of December YOOLF 2021.

For 9330 transmitter, staff have found a way to regulate the
temperature of water cooling the big final amplifier tube, heat
exchanger, bypass valve; needs to be not too hot, not too cold, circa
90-100 F. Also they are finally about to get the backup Diesel
generator on line, capable of 2 megawatts at 4160 volts, 3-phase.
Testing it Wednesday caused some interruptions in 9330. Needs to have
it available when commercial power is flickering as in storms, not
good for the transmitters.

Now on 7490, 6160, 4790; maybe will get 3265 back on ``sometime this
summer`` [as if we are already into `this` winter], but have no
clients for it [you would if you moved the 7490 ones there for dark
low-MUF winter nights!].

Seeing lots of sunspots checked on their solar-scope daily, so
propagation is looking up. NO phone calls interrupting, and only a
couple emails at 0157; 0159 prayer, and almost 0201 JIP Hal Turner.
John Carver`s version:

Tonight's show started on time on 4790, 6160 and 7490. 6160 was
listenable this evening for a change and 7490 was plagued with heavy
interference that sounded like Hams on SSB. Allan and Angela in the
studio. Program opened with a song about AM radio. Opening chatter
about the song quickly changing to talk about AM radio in general. At
0120 Allan read an article on radio listening in the world which
revealed that more people outside the US listen to radio than the
people living here. Fewer smart speakers used world wide than here
also. After that the talk returned to AM radio.

A bit later Allan mentioned that they had made some modifications to
the transmitter at the superstation. Including some changes to the
cooling system so that in winter slightly warmer water would be pumped
to cool the tube to keep from pumping freezing water onto a hot tube
which would lead to problems with the tube. He also announced that
they have finally completed work on the backup generator for the new
transmitter. He stated that the brief outages recently of the
transmitter had to do with checking the backup power source. He also
said that on backup power the transmitter would be receiving slightly
less power than normal.

Reading of a few emails at 0157 and closing prayer at 0159. Program
was off at 0200. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 720 kHz, Dec 18 at 1619 UT, WGN Chicago still in well by
skywave with `Home Sweet Home` DIY show on ``AM 720``, 312 AC. This is
161 minutes after Enid SR at 1338 UT.

670 bears a SAH between weaker signals of 76/minute or 1.27 Hz, no
doubt KLTT and WSCR. MWoffsets shows WSCR as exact and KLTT as 1.8 Hz
plus (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130 kHz, Dec 18 at 1617 UT, KLEY Wellington KS is still
musicking at steady S9+10, as it was on bandscan yesterday and another
later today, instead of usual dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Another low-noon MW bandscan attempt to find a quiet spot in
or near Enid, this time driving along Southgate on the SE corner of
Enid, a little further from 960 & 1390. But even dirt sideroads have
powerlines along them, and major line along Southgate is very noisy.
At spots part of the MW band may be clean, but not the rest of it. One
which is good below 1200 is on a curve to the south by Woodring
Airport -- maybe the standing waves happen to cancel out there? From
there and an earlier stop between 1908 and 1923 UT Dec 18, paying less
attention to frequencies/stations I noted yesterday:

650, C&W music, likely WSM Nashville, fast SAH likely KGAB Wyoming
700, song, medium SAH, probably Metroplex TX and WLW?
720, only trace of a SAH now from WGN and KSAH
850, Spanish, so KJON TX not KOA Denver, which can make it on GW to
the north side of Enid
990, Spanish much stronger, so KFCD TX
1050, rumble SAH from the two Okies, one way off frequency
1090, music and medium SAH. KEXS near KC/MO is not unusual, the other
maybe KAAY LR/AR, skywave since its GW coverage is poor
1200+ high noise level, but:
1340, KGHM MWC/OKC is dead air at 1923

After this, heading home, I rest my ears on the dead air of 960 KGWA,
and the tail wagging the dog, 100.9 translator, from 1934 UT until
finally cut on during ad at 1959; was no one paying attention? What to
do about paid advertisers, refund, make-good, or hope no one but y.t.
notice? Non-ID as ``Talk 100.9 KGWA``, but then full legal ID with
translator call and 960, but the static RDS on FM shows ``KGWA-FM``
which is *not* its real callsign. Into Fox ``news`` on the hour, but
1906 back to dead air!

Sob, this is the station pushing far-right extremist talkshows, such
as Lush Rambo for as long as he lasted. KGWA owner is also behind the
Big Deal local promotion in downtown Enid of ``world`s tallest Xmas
tree`` --- except it`s not a single tree but several stuck together,
which have been blown apart by high winds, and repaired.

My next holiday project: check out the three locations in western Enid
which have featured music & light shows on Part 15 FM frequencies in
years past (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
